Jamie Carragher believes Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has impressed in the Premier League more than Chelsea FC forward Alvaro Morata.

The Belgium international has been criticised for his overall performances this term despite Lukaku scoring a respectable 13 goals and made six assists in 27 Premier League games.

Lukaku made a brilliant start to the season at his new club after a £75m move from Everton following a return of 10 goals in his opening nine games in all competitions.

Chelsea FC missed out on the signing of Lukaku and the defending champions signed Morata in a £58m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid last summer.

The Spain international has netted 10 goals in 22 appearances in the Premier League this term after the striker struggled with fitness problems over the past couple of months.

Lukaku cancelled out Willian’s opener before he teed up Jesse Lingard’s winner in a 2-1 win against Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher admits Lukaku has impressed more so than Morata in the Premier League this term.

“Lukaku was man of the match,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “He’s been a better player than Morata since he’s come here. He’s got Premier League experience.

“I think both sides were fighting over both players in the summer. But there’s no doubt that Manchester United have got the better end of the deal.”

Manchester United are in second place in the Premier League table and six points ahead of Chelsea FC in the race to secure a top-four place.
