Wolves have endured a summer of several high-profile departures, leaving manager Vitor Pereira preparing for the club’s opener against Manchester City with a depleted squad.
The club has lost key players, including Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Pablo Sarabia this summer, while other members of the first-team setup, like Hwang Hee-chan, have been linked with a move away, further thinning Wolves’ squad depth.
Their struggles have continued into pre-season, with Wolves suffering a 1-0 defeat to Celta Vigo at Molineux in their latest friendly, raising concerns ahead of the new campaign.
Just days before the Old Gold’s Premier League opener against Manchester City, Pereira is dealing with a fresh concern over one of his new signings.

David Moller Wolfe admits he needs ‘time’ after making his Wolves debut
Moller Wolfe recently joined Wolves from AZ Alkmaar in a deal reported to be worth around £10 million, and he made his debut in the 1-0 defeat to Celta Vigo.
The defender, who was signed as a replacement for Ait-Nouri, was taken off after 45 minutes as he continues to build up his fitness.
However, despite impressing on his debut, Wolfe admitted in an interview with the official Wolves website that he needs time to adjust to his new surroundings.
He said: “I want to get out there and show what I can do, but also, I need time to be completely comfortable and confident in the position that I play, because it’s a bit of a different position to what I’ve been playing the last couple of years.”
Wolfe was recently cleared to play after sustaining a knock during Wolves’ friendly against Celta Vigo, keeping him in contention for the crucial opener against Manchester City.

Pereira weighs up decision between Wolfe and Bueno for Man City clash
Pereira faces a tough choice at left-back as he decides whether to start new signing Moller Wolfe or Hugo Bueno against Man City.
Both players impressed in the Eredivisie, but limited game time and Wolfe’s recent adaptation period have complicated Pereira’s decision.
| Player | David Moller Wolfe | Hugo Bueno |
| Appearances | 31 | 20 |
| Assists | 5 | 3 |
| Clearances (per game) | 1.9 | 1.1 |
However, Bueno was late returning to the group after his involvement with the Spain U21s at the Euros this summer.
While the Spaniard offers stability and familiarity, having spent more time with the squad, Wolfe offers fresh energy and attacking intent.
The manager’s selection will be crucial against one of the Premier League’s strongest sides, who have heavily reinforced their attack during the summer transfer window.
