NBA legend and golf fanatic Charles Barkley holed out for an eagle during the golf round of his life at the American Century Championship.
Barkley’s golf game has been a running joke for decades due to his unorthodox swing and high-scoring rounds. But his game appears to have turned a corner.
Barkley has played in the American Century Championship, an annual celebrity golf tournament, for 30 years. And in the 2025 Championships, he may well have played the best round he has ever played.

During the best-scoring round of his 30 years playing the American Century, Barkley holed out for an incredible eagle.
From 88 yards out, Barkley hit a wedge to the back of the green, spinning it backwards into the hole to the amazement of every witness.
That was the highlight of an incredible round. The former NBA star finished with nine points in the Stableford system. He was tied for 24th in the 90-player field.
“I had a great day today,” Barkley said. “I had a lot of fun. I played with Nate Bargatze and Larry the Cable Guy, two of the best dudes. But I’ve put a lot of time and effort in, and I was very happy with the way I played today.”
He wasn’t the only NBA star to make an impression on the day.

Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, well known for his golfing ability, is the biggest NBA name near the top of the leader board. He finished day one two points behind the leader with 21. Curry’s injury, suffered in the postseason, is clearly well into recovery.
It was a family affair for the Currys, as Steph was joined by father Dell and brother Seth.
He said, “It was obviously fun playing with my dad and my brother, the matching outfits and everything, getting the vibes going,” Stephen Curry said. “As average as I think I played, I held the big numbers out, which allows you to stay relevant. Excited for tomorrow.”
Former NBA player and coach Vinny Del Negro, the 2021 winner in the celebrity tournament, was a point back from the lead; meanwhile, NBA champion with the Oklahoma City Thunder Alex Caruso, finished the day with 18.
