It’s almost time for the 2025 edition of the famed Ryder Cup, as 24 of the world’s most talented golfers look to add their name to the history books.
Anticipation is in the air of the golfing world as captains Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley get ready for the sport’s ultimate showdown.
Bethpage Black in New York will host the 2025 edition of the biennial competition as 12 of Europe’s greatest golfers square off against an equally formidable USA side, stacked with talent and prowess.
Throughout the years, the tournament has been fiercely fought, with the Americans ahead 27 to 15 in terms of overall wins in the Ryder Cup, but who has won the most points for Europe since the inaugural event in 1927?

Who are Team Europe’s top all-time point-scorers
So many of the game’s greats have played in the storied matchup, with some of the finest ball strikers slipping on a blue and gold sweatshirt and giving their all for Team Europe.
However, the past few years have seen a changing of the guard for this side of the pond, with many stalwarts, such as Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood, and Ian Poulter, no longer featuring for the side.
The aforementioned Garcia tops the points list with an impressive 28.5, with Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie also in a list that includes a plethora of household names. Modern-day icons such as Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy still have work to do to crack the top ten, though.
| Player | Points scored |
|---|---|
| Sergio Garcia | 28.5 |
| Nick Faldo | 25 |
| Bernhard Langer | 24 |
| Colin Montgomerie | 23.5 |
| Lee Westwood | 23 |
| Seve Ballesteros | 20.5 |
| Jose Maria Olazabal | 20.5 |
| Tony Jacklin | 17 |
| Ian Woosnam | 16.5 |
| Neil Coles | 15.5 |
How many points have Team Europe’s current side earned in the Ryder Cup
| Player | Points |
|---|---|
| Rory McIlroy | 18 |
| Justin Rose | 15.5 |
| Tommy Fleetwood | 8 |
| Jon Rahm | 7.5 |
| Tyrrell Hatton | 6 |
| Viktor Hovland | 4.5 |
| Robert MacIntyre | 2.5 |
| Shane Lowry | 2.5 |
| Ludvig Aberg | 2 |
| Sepp Straka | 1 |
| Matt Fitzpatrick | 1 |
| Rasmus Hojgaard | 0 |
McIlroy and Rose lead the way by a considerable margin, given they’ve both played in a combined 13 tournaments over the last 17 years.
The next tier features the likes of Fleetwood, Rahm, and Hatton, who have all become important members of the blue and gold side, winning key points across several competitions now.
Hovland has a respectable haul too and partnered with the equally impressive Aberg during foursomes in 2023 to record Team Europe’s biggest ever margin of victory, beating Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka 9&7.
The rest all have at least a point to their name, showing this is a European side that may be inexperienced but is always well prepared. Except for Hojgaard, that is.
Hojgaard will make his Ryder Cup debut in New York in the only change to the victorious 2023 team, curiously replacing his twin brother Nicolai. Any points he picks up will be his first for the team.
Captain Donald got his pairing spot on last time out, as reflected in rookie Aberg teaming up so effectively with Hovland, and the in-form MacIntyre then partnering the seasoned Rose so well as a newcomer too. The former world number one will undoubtedly be hoping to get his tee sheet spot on this time, too.
