If you’re on this page, you’re probably a little worse for wear, hoping that someone will give you the answers you want.

There are some simple steps you can take to help you ease hangover symptoms.

And today I’ll be sharing with you the most detailed and research-backed tips and tricks to help you overcome an age-old problem – the hangover.

This article contains the most comprehensive list of effective ways to beat your hangover.

To cure a hangover is an unlikely task – but there are many ways to drastically improve them.

I think you’ll agree, a sit-down shower, a litre of water and a cheeky Nando’s is no longer enough to help our abysmal hangovers.

Similarly, every parent’s classic tip to cure a hangover has yet to resonate with me – “The best way to avoid a hangover is to not drink at all”…

Well, thanks dad. That’s great advice, but I think I’d rather carry on sipping my double Gin and Tonic, thank you very much.

It turns out there are a new breed of products on the market today to help us sufferers…

In the last five years, a new type of health supplement has come about to help us with our hangovers. These products are designed to provide a solution to an age-old problem by providing the vitamins, minerals and rehydration solutions we need.

By no means are any of them “Hangover cures” because the only real way to stop a hangover is to not drink at all. Let’s face it… I’m not going to start doing that any time soon.

Here are the leading products designed to help with hangovers.

1) AfterDrink

AfterDrink is my favourite supplement of choice and I’ve found it to be the best I’ve tried. I found it allows me to have a functional day after a heavy drinking session and best of all, it helps with symptoms of nausea. This is probably because it contains a concentrated extract of Ginger – as mentioned before, this is a scientifically proven herbal remedy that treats nausea.

It’s pretty easy to take – just knock back three pills with a big glass of water when you get home after a boozy night out and take another three the next morning. The first dose works overnight while you’re asleep to help break down the alcohol in your system cleanly.

The website suggests it works by clearing up “free-radicals” that are produced from alcohol metabolism and it contains 26 ingredients from vitamins to amino acids and herbal extracts to help support the way alcohol is naturally broken down and scavenge the harmful by-products.

2) Thisilyn Milk Thistle Capsules

These are normally taken when you over-indulge in drink (or food) by helping with indigestion and an upset stomach. Milk thistle is an ingredient that also protects your liver from toxins and can support its healthy function.

I found these to be quite effective but they work best over the long-term and don’t provide the quick fix you’re probably looking for.

Also, milk thistle is technically classed as a medicinal product in the UK as it can interact with medications that are prescribed by the doctor so it’s always best to use with caution.

3) Phizz

Phizz seems like a better version of Berocca and contains not only vitamins and minerals but also sugar, which is an important factor as mentioned above. It’s mainly aimed at regular travellers who can become dehydrated from long journeys in aircraft cabins or those taking part in regular sporting activities.

I personally didn’t like the taste that much. It has a metallic/salty taste to it. But then again, it’s probably hard to make something with vitamins and minerals in it taste much better. It also leaves a funky smell in the air.

4) Drinkwel

This is an American product with good ingredients, some of which are prohibited and classed as medicinal in the UK. But as we know in the US, if it sells, it sells.

It’s very premium-priced at £40 a bottle, which far more expensive than similar products and it works in a similar way.

5) Hang Dr

Don’t worry, it’s not a suicidal doctor, but another hangover remedy.

This product contains a range of vitamins and minerals that are important in combating hangover symptoms, but it’s not too dissimilar from any other standard combination multivitamin.

A British product, Hang Dr contains 24 vitamins and is described on its website as a “vitamin and mineral” supplement.

Wrapping things up – our final thoughts

With my hangovers seeming to be getting rapidly worse I’ve been desperately searching for a hangover cure that can keep my ‘mild’ alcoholism going – the struggle is real, right?

getting too old
