Blue light blocking computer glasses are designed to help tone down some of the intensity of the blue light emitted from your screen so that you’ll be able to better get on with your job.

The purpose of this review is for us to take a close look at the BLUblox BluLite glasses to see where they stand in comparison to other similar products such as the Ra Optics Ultimate Day lenses.

We’re going to be paying particularly close attention to the quality of the lenses, the frames on offer and what real customers are saying about them.

We’re big fans of the BLUblox range of blue blockers and we’ve already reviewed the SummerGLO and the Sleep+ lenses on the site, if you’re looking for some glasses to block larger amounts of blue light.

This review is going to focus solely on the BluLite glasses from BLUblox as we look to see if they were useful during our long spells spent on our laptop.

We’ll also then see how they compare to our list of the best blue light blocking glasses on sale right now.

So, with the intros out of the way, it’s time to start taking a closer look at the BLUblox BluLite glasses to see where they stand.

BLUblox BluLite – The Basics

So, as we have already mentioned, the BluLites are BLUblox’s computer glasses offering.

The BLUblox range currently has three lenses – the SummerGLO, which is for indoor artificial light use during the day, and the Sleep+, which is designed to block out much more blue light and be used just before bed.

The BluLite glasses block the least amount of blue light of all of the options in the BLUblox range.

They are designed for computer use, and they come in a range of different styles, so you’ll be sure to be able to find one to suit your tastes.

The official BLUblox website says that the BluLite lenses “filter artificial blue light across the whole blue light spectrum”.

The product description also says that they come equipped with an anti-glare finish to help combat digital eye strain.

BLUblox BluLite on top of case

They feature clear lenses that do not distort color perception, and they are one of the most popular computer glasses out there on the market.

The official product description on the BLUblox website says that the BluLite lenses “filter down and reduce the high energy artificial blue light emitted by digital devices”.

If you wear prescription glasses, then BLUblox also offer the option to have them made personally for you. All you need is a copy of your prescription document to upload when making your purchase.

So, it all sounds pretty good to us so far. Let’s now take a closer look at the various styles and frames on offer for the BluLites.

The Styles and Frames

What we love about the whole BLUblox range is that there are multiple different options available when it comes to the styles on offer.

Blue light blocking glasses have been around for quite a few years, but they have a bit of a reputation for not being exactly stylish.

BLUblox offer 20 different frame styles, so you’ll be sure to find one that suits you. Many of them mimic popular sunglasses styles.

We tried out the Crystal computer glasses, which feature a clear transparent plastic frame. The build quality is good, and the glasses come with a sturdy carrying case, cleaning cloth, as well as a travel pouch.

The one downside of BLUblox being an online-only retailer is that you can’t try on the glasses for style first.

However, the website is set up very well, featuring the same models wearing the various different styles, so you’ll get a good idea of the fit and look.

There is also a specific size guide for each frame, so you can compare them to a pair of glasses or sunglasses you already own.

BLUblox also offer a custom service, where you send off a frame of your choice and they will have them made into blue blockers. This costs a bit extra and takes a bit longer, as you’d imagine.

The Lenses and the Effect

Now it’s time to focus on the all-important lenses and the effect we noticed while using the BluLites.

After having previously tested the Sleep+ and SummerGLO lenses, the first thing we noticed with the BluLites it that the effect is much more subtle.

The lenses are basically transparent in color, and they look like regular eyesight glasses to the undiscerning eye.

When we put them on for the first time, we noticed that they seem to add a bit more of a yellowish tint to our eyesight, although the effect is very subtle. Think ‘night shift’ for your eyes.

We already use f.lux on our iMac’s computer monitor, so the colors are already made less harsh, but we enjoyed the slightly toned down effect.

When you put the glasses on for the first time, you’ll notice that some of the blue light is filtered out, even though it is subtle.

We’ve been using the BluLite glasses every time we work at our computer, unless it’s dark outside, in which case we’d switch to the SummerGLO or Sleep+ lenses.

Overall, we must say that we love these glasses. We’ve not suffered from digital eye strain too much in the past but the subtle effect offered by the BluLite lenses makes the experience of working on a computer much more enjoyable, especially when it’s for long periods at a time.

What Are Customers Saying?

We took a look online to see what real customers were saying about the BluLite glasses.

At the time of writing, there was only one review on Amazon, which was from a happy customer who rated them five stars.

The full BLUblox range of blue light blocking glasses are only available on the official website, so there is not much in the way of customer feedback available to view online.

That being said, the BLUblox range have been causing quite a stir on social media, with plenty of influencers promoting their products.

Any Negatives?

• There is no getting away from the fact that the BLUblox range carries a premium price tag. They may not fit into everyone’s budget for that reason. That said, you can get 10% off your order by using the coupon code TSR10 at checkout on the official BLUblox website.

• You can only buy the full range of glasses from the official BLUblox website. This means that you won’t find them in stores or elsewhere online. The downside about this is that you won’t be able to try on the glasses to see if they suit you. But BLUblox do offer a good returns policy.

Anything Else to Consider?

As always with all of the products we recommend on our site, you shouldn’t expect miracles from them on their own.

Yes, blue light blocking computer glasses such as the BluLites can be very effective in helping to reduce the glare and blue light emitted from digital devices.

But good health has many different aspects to it. You cannot simply expect a pair of blue light blocking glasses to solve all of your problems.

That said, we think that the whole BLUblox range of glasses are some of the best products out there in this category, and when used sensibly and in the correct way, they can help to support a healthy lifestyle.

BLUblox BluLite Review Conclusion

That brings us to the end of our BLUblox BluLite Computer Glasses review.

Overall, we were very impressed by these computer blue blockers. The lenses are set up to block out the most energetic parts of the blue light spectrum emitted from digital devices.

They also feature and anti-glare coating and come in a wide range of styles. The huge choice of frames and styles on offer is one of the main reasons why we love the BLUblox range so much.

We think that the BluLites are perfect for use at your computer when you’re working during the day. Once it gets dark outside, we recommend switching to a darker lens such as the SummerGLO or Sleep+, in order to help mimic more of a natural lighting environment.

We also think that the BluLites are a good option if you’re indoors behind glass during the day, as they strip out a small amount of blue light to give the world a more ‘natural daylight’ look.

We rate the BLUblox BluLite glasses as one of the best options out there if you’re looking for some stylish computer glasses.

Remember that you can get 10% off your total order at the official BLUblox website if you use the code TSR10 during the checkout process.
