As a naturally skinny guy, you may have tried mass gainers to help build and maintain muscle mass over the years.

In case you didn’t already know, mass gainers are supplements designed to help you put on size and ensure that all of your hard work in the gym is not going to waste.

As is the case with most products in this industry, some are mass gainers great, while others are not so good.

We’re always on the lookout for the best way to build and maintain lean muscle by using affordable products but without compromising on quality. After all, if you’re going to be buying the stuff regularly, it’s better it doesn’t leave a huge hole in your wallet.

There are a number of popular mass gainers available these days, but Bulk Powders Complete Mass caught my eye because of its incredibly low price in comparison to the others.

Here, we’re going to run you through my experience of trying Complete Mass and give you all the information you need to decide whether you should consider adding it to your regime.

The basics

As we’ve already mentioned, we were first drawn to Complete Mass because of the welcoming price-tag.

If you take a quick look around at some of the other mass gainers out there, you’ll quickly realise that Complete Mass is one of the best-priced products available.

Bulk Powders Complete Mass is £42.49 for a 5kg bag.

Optimum Nutrition’s Serious Mass costs £69.99 for a 5.6kg bag.

Of course, the first thing we assumed after seeing the low price was that Complete Mass compromised on the quality of its ingredients, but after a little digging, we were pleasantly surprised.

The ingredients

Complete Mass is described as a calorie dense weight gainer for gym-goers looking to quickly bulk up in size.

Each 135g serving packs in more than 40 grams of protein and over 530 calories.

The thing we like about the product is that the protein comes from three separate sources: 40% whey protein concentrate, 40% milk protein concentrate and 20% egg white powder.

This is important (and unique compared to other brands) because it means that Complete Mass contains a varied collection of amino acids, which have different rates of absorption.

It’s rare for a mass gainer to show the exact percentages of the different protein sources, so this has already set it apart from the competition.

The 66.4g of carbohydrate in each serving largely comes from the ‘Ultra Fine’ Scottish Oats. We all know about the benefits of oats (sustained energy release, great source of fibre and so on…), and because they are finely blended into a powder, they mix really well into the shake.

Complete Mass also includes an impressive 5 grams of of glutamine peptides and 5 grams of leucine per serving.

The last thing to look for when choosing the best mass gainer is sugar content.

And this is where Complete Mass beats the other products hands down.

Each serving contains a tiny total of just 1.7 grams of sugar.

To put that into context, each serving of Optimum Nutrition’s Serious Mass contains 21 grams of sugar per serving. That’s over 12 times more sugar in each shake!

The taste

Most mass gainers are on the thicker side when mixed because of their calorie dense nature and Complete Mass is no different.

It comes in banana, chocolate, chocolate cookies and strawberry flavours. We played it safe and went for chocolate and we didn’t regret it.

We mixed it with water rather than milk, and we have to say, it tasted great.

As we know, there’s nothing worse than having to down a shake that tastes horrible just for the sake of it. Drinking the chocolate flavour Complete Mass was a genuine pleasure and something that I looked (and still do) forward to.

What other people are saying about it

We did some digging into the corners of the internet to find out what other people are saying about Complete Mass.

Generally, it seems to be very well reviewed and has largely positive feedback.

One person mentioned struggling to mix the strawberry flavour and there were a couple of complaints about delivery, but Complete Mass seems to be a very popular product.

Verified buyer from Amazon, Oliver Medley, wrote: “High in carbohydrates and protein, low in sugar, tastes good, dissolves well in milk, and it has helped me gain mass. Good stuff.”

And reviewer, Chocolate Cookies, wrote directly on the Bulk Powders website: “If you’re looking to increase muscle mass fast, this is the perfect product. Hit a point in my training where I just wasn’t making any more gains. Been using this a month now (chocolate cookies flavour) noticeable difference. Mixes straight away, lovely taste. Will be buying in ‘Bulk’ next time ;)”

Quick overview

The benefits:

– The price – Almost half the price of other similar products.

– The taste – We always looked forward to drinking the chocolate flavour.

– Low sugar content – Just 1.7 grams of sugar per serving.

The drawbacks:

– Mixed reviews on strawberry flavour – This flavour seems to be the least popular amongst reviewers.

– Delivery – Some reviewers mentioned issues with delivery but they mostly appeared to be resolved directly by Bulk Powders.

The brand

Bulk Powders is a British company and founded back in 2005. They underwent a large brand transformation to adapt themselves for the growing online demand for products back in 2013 and have a reputation for offering some of the best prices in the health and fitness sector.

They sell directly to consumers, and manufacture their products themselves, meaning they can offer lower prices than some of their competitors.

The best deal

Complete Mass is very good value for money, and the best deal is the 5kg bag (37 servings) at £42.49, which works out at around £1.15 per serving. There are also 2.5kg (£24.99) and 1kg (£11.99) bags.

UK delivery is free on all orders more than £49 from the Bulk Powders website.

Review conclusion – our final thoughts

As you can probably tell, we’ve been left very impressed by this product. Its low price, high-quality ingredients and low sugar content make it one of the best mass gainers out there.

This really is a great option for anyone looking to boost their gains.
