• Creatine Nitrate – Creatine is another good pre workout ingredient. In the bodybuilding industry, creatine is well-known and has been well-researched. It’s a common pre workout ingredient in small doses, so it was good to find it in the C4 formula.

• Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate – Quite the mouthful to say, AAKG is a popular supplement. Looking at some of the research behind this ingredient, we can see why this has been included, but we don’t rate it as a vital pre workout ingredient.

• Beta-Alanine – This naturally occurring beta amino acid has presumably been included in C4 because it is believed to have a number of benefits. Again, this is a popular supplement on its own, but we don’t rate it as a vital pre workout ingredient.

• Vitamins B6 and B12 – We always like to see B Vitamins included in supplements of this type. Why? In case you didn’t know, Vitamins B6 and B12 are two essential vitamins which can help with the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

C4 also contains a number of other ingredients such as Vitamin C, Folic Acid, as well as some other interest substances in its “explosive blend”.

What’s missing?

Although C4 does contain some good stuff, we found that this supplement is missing some of our favorite pre workout ingredients.

Firstly, it was a shame not to see L-Theanine included. It’s a common ingredient and is often paired with Caffeine in the same supplement.

We were also disappointed not to find any L-Citrulline Dl-Malate on the label. Extracted from watermelon, this has become an increasingly popular pre workout ingredient in recent times as well.

Other things we were disappointed not to find on the label were thing like Coconut Water Powder, Acetyl L-Carnitine and Rhodiola Rosea Powder.

Are there any side effects?

These kinds of supplements made by big brands are usually relatively safe because they tend to only include ingredients from natural food sources.

The one thing to bear in mind is the stimulant content. Each serving of C4 contains 150mg of caffeine, which is a good amount.

However, if you’re also drinking coffee and combining this supplement with others which contain stimulants, it might be too much. It’s best to be sensible and make sure you’re not over-doing it on the caffeine.

Also, if you tend to workout in the late afternoon or evening, this supplement may not be for you, as the caffeine could disrupt your natural sleep pattern.
