For sportsmen and women and the self-appointed captains of sports teams up and down the country, the weekly task of reaching for your phone and frantically searching through your Whatsapp contacts or sending desperate pleas on Facebook or Twitter looking for a last minute replacement to make up the numbers is a far too familiar process.
Fortunately Scottish entrepreneur Jim Law has found a way to get rid of that frustration which should hopefully make five a side call offs a thing of the past, by creating Find A Player, a new free app which takes the hassle out of managing your sports team by linking local players to sports games and events taking place in their local area.
Find A Player allows users to create a profile listing the sports they are interested in playing, their day-to-day availability, their skill level, and their maximum distance they’re happy to travel. The app then matches games and events looking for individuals with users that fit their profile. It’s perfect for people looking to get into a sport and for those happy to be a ringer to play more of the sports they love.
Find A Player runs a peer-to-peer rating system, enabling all players in a game to feedback on reliability, as well as fitness and skill, so you’re able to sift through the no-showers and no-hopers alike.
With over 140 listed sports, you can find players for just about anything, anywhere, be it a casual kick five-a-side kickabout, a game of tennis, a round of golf or a more sophisticated game of chess.
Download the Find A Player app for free from the iTunes store here or from the Android store.
