Online health retailer MuscleFood.com has become the UK’s first company to sell a spread with less than a quarter of the sugar and half the calories of leading brands.
Their ‘Prutella’ is “100 per cent clean with no added sugars” and has been released just as Government advisers told families to slash their sugar intake by half.
It contains just under a quarter of the sugar of the nation’s leading chocolate and hazelnut spread.
It’s perfect for those watching their waistlines too, with less than half the calories and saturated fat of the market leader.
Prutella is made with hazelnut paste and contains a tiny eighth of a teaspoon of sugar per serving.
The superfood spread is perfect for health-conscious mums who want to give their kids a sweet treat without going over the GDA of sugar.
The chocolate and hazelnut spread is also rich in calcium due to the high content of milk proteins, perfect for growing kids.
The low sugar content makes the delectable treat suitable for diabetics who want to enjoy something sweet.
The spread has already received more than a 100 rave reviews from customers on MuscleFood.com’s website and social media since its launch last week.
Darren Beale from MuscleFood.com said: “Our health-conscious customers are keen to cut down on their sugar intake but still want to treat themselves once in a while.
“Because our innovative chocolate and hazelnut spread is both low in sugars and fat, they can indulge themselves and their kids without worrying.
“Our team spent months researching and testing spreads to get the taste and texture just right.
“Giving your kids a quick and healthy breakfast isn’t always easy. Most of the high street cereals and spreads are high in sugar and low in fibre and calcium.
“Prutella can provide kids with a yummy breakfast or quick after school snack and mums can be happy knowing their kids are eating right.
“Our spread is also great for dieters who are craving something chocolaty. Now you don’t have to deny your body what it wants, you can treat yourself without having to worry about piling on the pounds.
“We’re expecting Prutella to be popular. Products like our high protein pizzas and cookies have really taken off amongst our customers who feel like they want a treat day without the extra calories.”
