In this review article, we’re going to take a close look at the product and assess the ingredients to help you make an informed decision about whether this could be a good product for you.
This is a supplement featuring a number of different ingredients. The labelling of the product claims that it helps with weight loss, and that it can also play a role in energy and mental focus.
MuscleTech’s original Hydroxycut has been around for more than 20 years, according to the website, and Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen is the latest “evolution” in this supplement.
The company seems to base most of their weight-loss claims on a study in which subjects taking green coffee extract as part of a low-calorie or calorie-reduced diet experienced weight loss over an eight-week period.
MuscleTech are quick to point out these studies on the product’s official website and they seem proud to have some scientific research to support their claims.
In short, this product is designed to help you lose weight and get into shape as quickly as possible. But does it really live up to its own hype?
Let’s take a closer look at the actual ingredients in this product.
The manufacturers have gone to efforts to make sure that all of the ingredients are clearly listed.
While we do definitely like the list of ingredients – as well as the company’s obvious confidence in their own product – we feel that there are still quite a few things missing to make this a really great fat burner.
Here is a detailed look at the main ingredients in Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen.
Green coffee bean extract – This is a good ingredient and seems to be the pillar upon which this product has been created.
The website says that they have included green coffee bean extract in this supplement because it is a scientifically researched ingredient that has been shown in clinical studies.
Green coffee bean is a nice ingredient and it’s actually often one that is neglected in supplements of this type, so it’s good to see it included in Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen.
In their raw, green, unroasted state, coffee beans have high levels of Chlorogenic Acid. This is thought to act as an inhibitor to the enzyme glucose- 6-phosphatase, cutting down the formation of glucose in your liver.
Some studies have also suggested that Chlorogenic Acid can help to lower body fat percentage.
What does this all mean? It’s definitely a good ingredient for a supplement of this type.
Caffeine Anhydrous – This is a pure form of the natural stimulant caffeine and is regularly found in supplements of this type.
It is thought to work by speeding up the metabolism to help break down stored body fat.
This will certainly keep you feeling energised, which is something you definitely want if you’re going to be training hard while also trying to shed the pounds.
There’s limited evidence linking this ingredient directly with fat loss, but we’re assuming that the fact it acts as a stimulant can help you feel more energised and therefore stay more active, leading to more calories burned.
L-ornithine – This is a non-essential amino acid.
MuscleTech say that they’ve included this ingredient in Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen because it is a researched ingredient to “support an enhanced overall sensory experience”.
To be honest, we’re not quite sure what that all means but it certainly sounds impressive.
L-ornithine is sold on its own as a separate health supplement by some nutrition companies. Some supplement websites say that adding L-ornithine to your regimen can increase muscle growth, but we’re not sure about the science behind this.
It’s certainly an interesting ingredient and not one we’ve come across very often when reviewing products of this type.
Red sage extract, blue skullcap and ginger – These are some other uncommon ingredients in supplements of this type.
On their own, they don’t sound particularly impressive but MuscleTech says that their benefits kick in big time when they are all combined together.
The website says that these three ingredients combined deliver a new “sensory experience” that is one of a kind. We’ll take their word for it, this seems to be one of the vaguest statements we’ve ever read.
We presume that this trio of interesting ingredients are combined to have a stimulatory effect, but there is no mention of this on the website.
Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen definitely contains some interesting (and unique!) ingredients, but we can’t help but feel that there are a few key things missing to make this a really great product.
Green Tea extract – Another key ingredient common in products of this type.
Green Tea seems to be all the rage these days and it’s good to see it included in Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen.
It has a number of health benefits and also acts as a natural stimulant. It’s also thought to boost your metabolism, which could help you on your fat-loss journey.
First things first, we were very surprised that Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen doesn’t Cayenne Pepper in some form, given that like Green Tea, it tends to be one of the ‘go-to’ ingredients in fat burners these days.
Cayenne can both boost metabolism and act as an appetite suppressant to deliver a ‘double hit’ of beneficial properties.
We also found that most of the best products in this category also contained Glucomannan, which is a dietary fibre that can act as an appetite suppressant.
The lack of B Vitamins and minerals such as zinc are less important but it’s still a shame not to see these included.
You should always carefully check the label before trying a product like this to make sure that you’re not going to suffer from any allergies.
The main thing with this product is most likely going to be the caffeine content.
There is 250mg in each two-capsule serving, so it’s probably best to avoid taking this too close to bedtime as the caffeine could affect your sleep.
Each bottle contains 100 capsules, and that amounts to 50 servings if you stick to the two-capsule instructions on the pack.
They say on the website to take two capsules (one serving) 30 to 60 minutes before your two main meals of the day (they suggest breakfast and lunch).
There’s also a warning on the site not to exceed four capsules in a 24-hour period.
Given that they recommend you take around four capsules a day, one bottle would last you 25 days, which is not very long in our opinion.
There seem to be some good reviews about Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen online.
One user reported getting the results they wanted by taking this product, while another claimed that it had a “remarkable effect” for them.
There are also quite a few anonymous reviews on Bodybuilding.com giving it a high rating and without comments, but it’s probably best not to read too much into those.
It’s an interesting product but we believe that there are better options out there at the moment. Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen’s ingredients are certainly unique but we feel that there are better supplements which feature more proven ingredients.
As always, do remember that there is no such thing as a ‘magic pill’ when it comes to achieving your health and fitness goals.
You should always make sure that your diet is on point and that you’re exercising regularly before considering taking a supplement like this.
So, is Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen a good supplement?
– Interesting ingredient stack
– Claims to be backed by scientific research
– Doesn’t contain many of our favourite ingredients
– One bottle could last just 25 days
– We’re not convinced by some of the ingredients
