Myprotein review: Total Protein, Impact Whey Isolate and more

We tried out Myprotein's Total Protein, Whey Protein Isolate, Peanut Butter and Almond Butter. Here's what we found

Total Protein (Mint Chocolate)

About: Total Protein is a ground-breaking supplement designed to provide an unparalleled supply of protein throughout the day. Total Protein provides a unique protein blend of slow (milk concentrate), moderate (egg white) and rapidly absorbed (whey isolate) proteins. Total Protein also contains 4g of glutamine peptides and 1.5g of flaxseed per serving.

Benefits: Total Protein provides over a 46g of protein per serving which will contribute to the growth and maintenance of lean mass.

Review: The taste is a crucial element of any protein supplement. Having previously tried other brands’s attempts to recreate that chocolate sensation, Myprotein’s Mint Chocolate flavour was a pleasant surprise. It tasted just like mint chocolate ice cream! The mint didn’t overpower the chocolate but still left a refreshing taste in the mouth.

Price: £35.99 (2.5kg)

Impact Whey Isolate (Banoffee and White Chocolate)

Myprotein’s Whey Protein Isolate Photo: Myprotein

About: Impact Whey Isolate is the purest whey protein available, containing over 90% protein with a low fat (0.25g) and carbohydrate (0.17g) content per serving, which is lower than most other whey protein powders. It has a comprehensive amino acid profile providing all the essential amino acids (EAA’s) and has over 2g of Leucine per serving.

Benefits: The Impact Whey Isolate is ideal for anyone looking to increase daily protein intake or looking for a protein intake before or after a training session. Due to the high protein content (22g per serving) it will contribute to a growth and maintenance of muscle mass. Impact Whey Isolate is available in a range of flavours including a variety of natural flavours.

Review (White Chocolate): Who doesn’t love white chocolate? Myprotein’s offering doesn’t quite capture the white chocolate flavour as well as the mint chocolate offering. But it does make their product perfect for smoothies or pancakes – a handy alternative to a standard protein shake.

Review (Banoffee): On the topic of pancakes, The Whey Protein Isolate in banoffee flavour is perfect for banana pancakes. Otherwise, as a shake, it is really tasty and makes a change from the run-of-the-mill banana flavour offered by most other companies.

Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter tastes better with Myprotein Photo: Myprotein

About: MP MAX® Peanut Butter is a great tasting and natural source of healthy protein, carbohydrates and fats made from 100% peanuts with nothing else added or taken away!

Benefits: MP MAX® Peanut Butter is also a good source of protein, extremely calorie dense and offers a source of vitamin E and magnesium. Adequate magnesium in the diet contributes to several beneficial properties including reducing tiredness and fatigue, and maintaining normal protein function and muscle synthesis. The peanuts used in MP MAX® Peanut Butter are roasted in their natural brown skins before being ground to a delicious texture. Absolutely nothing else is added to the resulting peanut butter, making this a natural and healthy choice free from added salt, sugar and palm oil.

Review: One of the best-tasting peanut butters out there! It certainly delivers on the crunchy factor and is perfect on a slice of wholemeal toast ahead of a session or as a quick snack. Admittedly, it isn’t as sweet as other peanut butters in the market, but that serves to underline its superior nutritional values.

Price: £5.99 (1kg)

Almond Butter

Myprotein’s Almond Butter is priced at £12.99 Photo: Myprotein

About: Almond Butter is a great tasting and natural source of healthy fats. The mono and polyunsaturated fats within Almond Butter make it a great snack. The almonds used in this product are roasted in their natural brown skins before being milled to produce the distinctive Almond butter. Absolutely nothing else is added to the resulting butter, making this a natural and healthy choice.

Benefits: Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats in the diet contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. This also has 24mg of Vitamin E and 269mg of Magnesium.

Review: For those wanting a change from peanut butter, look no further than Myprotein’s Almond Butter. It is a little less dense in texture, which makes it easier to spread. However, like the peanut butter, your jaw still gets a good workout. Add to Total Protein or Whey Isolate Protein and blend for a super-tasting post-workout shake.
