Coming from a rowing background, there was never a need to purchase products from protein companies as I got all my nutritional needs from my healthy calorie-packed daily meals.
But with Protein World starting to create a buzz (which would later develop into a social media roar), I jumped at the chance to try some their ranges.
They claim to be leading the protein revolution with a new and innovative range of 100 per cent pure, GMO free supplements to help you become healthier, leaner, fitter and stronger. Convinced? I was.

I started with the Tone Collection (now called the Bums and Tums Collection) for the first month. My aim was to shed some weight which I had amassed due to drinking and divulging in the many culinary delights that London has to offer.
As well as the Whey Protein, you’re also provided with Fat Metaboliser capsules and Multi Vitamin capsules.
I didn’t hesitate to take the latter, which was packed full of goodness. But I was rather more hesitant when it came to the Fat Metaboliser capsules. However, after avoiding consumption for the first few days, I decided to give it ago.
They contain thermogenic ingredients: green tea, caffeine, L-Tyrosine and cayenne powder to ignite your metabolism, increase your resting metabolic rate and boost energy – and of course, burn calories.
And using the protein and capsules in unison helped as I noticed my weight drop a couple of kilograms over the month, and in particular, I toned up around my torso.
Having tried other brands in the past when encouraged by friends to try a sample, taste is crucially important. You don’t want to taste the protein!
And my banana flavour protein was extremely tasty, especially with a couple of ice cubes and a dash of peanut butter.

After a month or so using the Tone collection which resulted in some fat loss, I wanted to build muscle mass as I stepped up my weights sessions at the gym.
The Muscle Collection is designed to rapidly boost the growth and repair of lean muscle tissue, encouraging on-going muscle tone and fast loss.
Again, I received a supply of Multi Vitamin tables as well as Lean Muscles capsules, which contain a powerful blend of natural amino acids, herbs and minerals.
While, so far, my muscle growth has been steady if unspectacular, the Muscle Collection has proven invaluable in terms of recovery after a heavy session.
It has allowed me to find the energy levels to complete five intense sessions a week, which highlights my improving strength and stamina.
On this occasion, I opted to try their vanilla and oats flavour, and while it lacked the taste of the their banana recipe, again a dash of peanut butter complement the shake.
