Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx is a pre workout supplement made by MuscleTech designed to help support your fitness goals.

Pre workout supplements have become increasingly popular these days as the health and fitness industry continues to boom.

The official website says that Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx will bring you a number of benefits to support you on your fitness journey.

Sounds great, but how does this pre workout compare to the other products on sale right now, and does it live up to the marketing hype?

This detailed review aims to answer any questions you might have about Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx, so you can decide whether it’s the supplement for you or not.

What does Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx do?

Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx is a popular pre workout supplement, but what is it supposed to actually do?

According to the official website, it’s been designed to produce a “hardcore” and “explosive” workout experience for you, to make sure that you can smash your fitness goals.

The marketing spiel says that it’s been specifically formulated to enhance certain things to help support you on your fitness journey.

It contains a few stimulants and other ingredients that you would expect to find in a pre workout supplement.

Let’s find out a bit more about this product by taking a close look at the ingredients it contains.

What you need to know about the ingredients

Taking a quick glance at the label, Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx contains some good things, but it’s also missing some of our top pre workout ingredients.

It’s good that MuscleTech don’t use a proprietary blend, so we can see all of the ingredients on the label, along with their exact doses. This is crucial when determining the true effectiveness of a product.

First though, let’s focus on the top substances this product does contain.

• Caffeine Anhydrous – One of our favorite pre workout ingredients. Most of the top pre workouts contain at least some Caffeine. Each serving of Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx contains 200mg of caffeine.

• Beta Alanine – This is not one of our top rated pre workout ingredients, but it seems to be a popular choice in a lot of products. It has supposed benefits during workouts, but we’ve also ready about some of the side effects it can cause, and we don’t rate it as a top ingredient.

• Yohimbe Extract – This isn’t really one of our favorite pre workout ingredients, and it’s not something we’ve seen much of in pre workouts because it tends to be included more regularly in other types of supplements. It’s been reported to cause side effects in some people, meaning we don’t really like it too much.

Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx contains quite a few other ingredients as well. Check out the list below, which also features the doses in full:

What’s missing?

Although Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx does contain a few good things, there were a lot of the best pre workout ingredients missing in our opinion.

Firstly, there was no Creatine included. This is one of our favorite pre workout ingredients and it was a shame not to find it on the label. We recommend around 1000mg of Creatine per serving pre workout.

It was also a shame not to find any L-Theanine on the label. It’s an amino acid extracted from tea leaves and works brilliantly when combined with caffeine.

There were also a couple of our other top-rated pre workout ingredients missing from Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx, including Red Beet Extract and Coconut Water powder.

Are there any side effects?

Most modern pre workout supplements are pretty safe, because they tend to only contain natural ingredients.

That being said, there are of course still a few things to check before trying a product for the first time.

One pitfall still seems to be stimulant content. Lots of the products we reviewed contained too much of things like caffeine for our liking.

Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx is pretty good in that respect, because it only contains 200mg of caffeine per serving, which is our maximum recommended dose for a pre workout.

The only other things that caught our eye about Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx and side effects were the use of both Yohimbe and Beta Alanine.

We’ve read about these two ingredients causing problems in some people, so it’s probably a good idea to do some of the research into it yourself.

We do recommend speaking to your doctor before thinking about trying any new supplement for the first time.

How to take Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx

Each tub of Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx contains 60 servings – but the recommended dose is two servings, meaning one tub will last for 30 servings.

It currently comes in four flavors – Blue Raspberry Blast, Cherry Limeade Twist, Fruit Punch Explosion and Icy Rocket Freeze.

The directions say that you should mix two scoops into a glass of water and consume it around 30 to 45 minutes before starting your workout.

Because of the caffeine content in this product, we wouldn’t recommend taking it if you tend to work out in the evening.

What are customers saying?

At the time of writing this review, Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx had 141 reviews on bodybuilding.com, the vast majority of which were pretty positive.

It has an overall rating of 9.6 stars out of 10, although it’s not clear how often this number is updated.

One customer said that they loved the Cherry Limeade Twist flavor in particular.

Someone else said that they loved this particular pre workout supplement, and said the Fruit Punch Explosion tasted great.

Another customer said that it had a bit too much caffeine for their liking and gave them a bit of a “tingle” during their training session.

Is this the best pre workout?

Not in our opinion. Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx does have some good things going for it, such as the use of caffeine, but there are too many of the best pre workout ingredients missing for us to consider it as one of the top products.

Anything else to consider?

As we always say when discussing health and fitness supplements of any kind, it’s crucial to make sure that your diet and training plan is on point first.

There’s no point in using a supplement if you’re not already training hard, eating right and getting plenty of rest.

That being said, if you’re adding a top pre workout supplement to your regimen and you’re already doing the above, it can help to support you on your journey.

Review conclusion – our final thoughts

So that wraps up our Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx review. Here are our main thoughts about this product overall:

Pros:
• Some decent ingredients
• Good reviews

Cons:
• Missing lots of top ingredients
• Yohimbe, Beta-Alanine could cause side-effects

Shatter SX-7 Black Onyx is an OK product, but we definitely do not rate it as one of the best pre workouts out there right now, because it doesn’t contain enough quality ingredients for our liking.
