In this review article, we’re going to take a close look at Shred Sport to decide whether it’s a supplement you should consider taking.
We’re going to do all of the hard work for you, by breaking down the ingredients and checking out the latest customer reviews, and considering it alongside some of the other similar supplements on sale right now.
Shred Sport is a supplement designed by MusclePharm to help support you as you look to hit your fitness goals.
It fits into a category of supplements that have been specifically formulated to support you as you look to hit your goals.
According to the website, this supplement can help you to achieve “remarkable” results.
It’s claimed that it works in multiple different ways to help you on the way towards achieving your body goals.
It’s fair to say that the manufacturers of this supplement clearly believe in their product.
So with all of that in mind, let’s take a close look at the ingredients to assess just how good this supplement really is.
Shred Sport contains some good ingredients to help support your goals.
But there are definitely some key things missing that stop it from being classed as a top quality supplement in our opinion. More on that later.
• Caffeine – It’s not surprising to see this included, we’ve noticed that it’s usually one of the first things in supplements of this type. Caffeine is far from a ground-breaking ingredient but it’s definitely one of the most common substances in these kinds of supplements. We were pleased to find it in the Shred Sport formula.
• Capsicum – Shred Sport includes capsicum branded as Capsimax at 125mg per serving. Capsicum is a substance we like to see included in supplements of this type and we were pleased to find it on the label. In all honesty, we would have preferred to see Cayenne Pepper used as the main ingredient here, but it’s certainly not a bad inclusion.
• Acetyl L-Carnitine – This is another good inclusion, even though we’re more used to finding it in pre workout supplements than anything else. It’s not a bad inclusion in the formula however.
• Fucoxanthin – This is an ingredient which we’ve not come across very much in supplements like this. It is claimed to help with certain things. That being said, we couldn’t find any official scientific studies to back up these claims and we’re not very convinced about its actual proven benefits.
Other ingredients included in Shred Sport include Dandelion and Theacrinen, as well as Vitamins B6 and B12.
Here is the full ingredients label as shown on the bottle:
Quite a lot of things, in our opinion.
While Theacrine is an alkaloid found in Chinese tea, we were surprised that Shred Sport doesn’t contain one of the most popular ingredients in supplements of this type – Green Tea Extract.
Like we mentioned above, we were also disappointed to see that Cayenne Pepper is not included in some form.
Cayenne and Green Tea are really the first things we look for in a supplement of this type so it’s a shame neither are included in Shred Sport.
Overall, it could also do with things such as Glucomannan, which is a dietary fiber which usually makes it into the top products in this category. It was a shame that it wasn’t included here.
We always recommend that you check the label carefully to make sure that you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients listed.
That being said, the ingredients in Shred Sport seem to be fairly safe.
The only thing you may have to look out for is the caffeine content.
That’s no problem, however, you should maybe avoid taking this particular supplement too late in the day, as it contains 200mg of caffeine per serving, which is quite a lot.
We do strongly recommend that you speak to your doctor before thinking about taking any new supplement for the first time.
Each bottle of Shred Sport contains 60 capsules. The label recommends that you take two capsules daily, meaning that a bottle will last you 30 days if you stick to the guidelines.
They also recommend that you start off by assessing your tolerance, by taking one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Again, we’d recommend not taking this too close to bedtime as the caffeine could affect your sleep.
MusclePharm also recommend that you take this supplement with plenty of water (which you should be drinking lots of anyway!).
There seem to be mixed reviews of Shred Sport online.
One customer said that he rated Shred Sport as lower than the other supplements he had tried.
Another user said that it helped him to achieve certain benefits, but he didn’t sound wholly convinced.
One customer said they had been taking one serving in the morning and that it “worked great” for them. They said they could tell when it was wearing off because their sugar cravings came back in the evening.
Another purchaser said he had been using it for a month and had started to see results, but someone else said that they had to take three or four capsules to feel any effects.
Not really. Shred Sport’s ingredient list is interesting but we feel that it comes up short in several key areas.
Those include the fact that it doesn’t include some of our favorite substances such as Green Tea and Cayenne Pepper.
We recently updated our guide to the best five products in this category and you can check them out by following the link shown below.
It’s always important to remember that these kinds of supplements are designed to complement a healthy lifestyle and regular training regime.
They are not going to help you on their own – you’ve got to put in the hard work and make sure that your nutrition is on point.
Having said that, a good supplement can help to support your goals as you look to take responsibility for your results.
So, is Shred Sport by MusclePharm a top supplement? It’s a decent option but it’s definitely not the best we’ve seen.
• Decent ingredient list
• Made by reputable company
• Some key ingredients missing
• Mixed customer reviews
ª We’re not convinced by some of the ingredients
So there we have it, our review of Shred Sport by MusclePharm.
It’s definitely a decent product and you’re not going to go too far wrong by giving it a go.
That being said, we feel there are definitely better options available right now that combine better ingredients in better doses.
