In this review article, we’re going to take a close look at Shred Sport to decide whether it’s a supplement you should consider taking.
We’re going to do all of the hard work for you, by breaking down the ingredients and checking out the latest customer reviews, and considering it alongside some of the other similar supplements on sale right now.
Shred Sport is a supplement designed by MusclePharm to help support weight loss and energy levels.
It fits into a category of supplements often referred to as ‘fat burners’. Although the manufacturers themselves rarely use that exact term (to avoid misleading consumers), most people in the industry refer to them that way.
According to the website, this supplement can help to burn fat, increase energy and achieve “remarkable” results.
It’s claimed that it works by controlling appetite and supporting metabolism to help you on the way towards achieving your body goals.
It’s fair to say that the manufacturers of this supplement clearly believe in their product.
So with all of that in mind, let’s take a close look at the ingredients to assess just how good this supplement really is.
Shred Sport contains some good ingredients to help speed up fat loss and boost your energy levels.
But there are definitely some key things missing that stop it from being classed as a top quality fat burner. More on that later.
Caffeine – It’s not surprising to see this included, we’ve noticed that it’s usually one of the first things in supplements of this type.
Caffeine is a powerful natural stimulant which can help to boost your energy levels and make sure that you’re performing at your best during exercise.
It can also help to boost your metabolism, which could mean a quicker road to the results you’re looking for.
Caffeine is far from a ground-breaking ingredient but it’s definitely one of the most common substances in these kinds of fat burner supplements and for good reason – if you’re looking to lose weight, you’re going to want to feel energetic and ready to work out.
Capsicum – Shred Sport includes capsicum branded as Capsimax at 125mg per serving.
Capsicum is a substance we like to see included in supplements of this type because it helps with thermogenesis.
It’s the ingredient which gives chillies their heat, and can raise your body temperature, causing you to burn extra calories as you cool yourself down.
In all honesty, we prefer to see these kind of thermogenic ingredients included in their natural forms such as Cayenne Pepper, although at least it has been included at all.
Acetyl L-Carnitine – This is another good inclusion for boosting energy levels, but we’re not convinced that it can have a big effect on weight loss.
It’s known to help fight fatigue (never a bad thing) and is thought to have an effect of reducing overall muscle damage.
That being said, while it’s a nice addition to the product, we certainly aren’t convinced about its links to speeding up your body’s natural ability to burn fat.
Fucoxanthin – This is an ingredient which is believed to help with increasing the fat burning process and reducing overall stored fat.
That being said, we couldn’t find any official scientific studies to back up these claims and we’re not very convinced about its actual proven benefits.
Other ingredients included in Shred Sport include Dandelion and Theacrinen, as well as Vitamins B6 and B12.
Quite a lot of things, in our opinion.
While Theacrine is an alkaloid found in Chinese tea, we were surprised that Shred Sport doesn’t contain one of the most popular ingredients in supplements of this type – Green Tea Extract.
Like we mentioned above, we were also disappointed to see that Cayenne Pepper is not included in some form.
Cayenne and Green Tea are really the first things we look for in a supplement of this type so it’s a shame neither are included in Shred Sport.
Overall, it could also do with things such as Glucomannan, which is a natural appetite suppressant, and Green Coffee bean extract, another favourite of ours in supplements of this category.
We always recommend that you check the label carefully to make sure that you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients listed.
That being said, the ingredients in Shred Sport seem to be fairly safe.
The only thing you may have to look out for is the caffeine content. These kinds of fat burning supplements are generally designed to boost energy levels as well as speed up fat loss.
That’s no problem, however, you should maybe avoid taking this particular supplement too late in the day, as it contains 200mg of caffeine per serving, which is quite a lot.
Each bottle of Shred Sport contains 60 capsules. The label recommends that you take two capsules daily, meaning that a bottle will last you 30 days if you stick to the guidelines.
They also recommend that you start off by assessing your tolerance, by taking one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Again, we’d recommend not taking this too close to bedtime as the caffeine could affect your sleep.
MusclePharm also recommend that you take this supplement with plenty of water (which you should be drinking lots of anyway!).
There seem to be mixed reviews of Shred Sport online.
One customer said that he rated Shred Sport as lower than the other thermogenic supplements he had tried.
Another user said that it helped him to shed ‘water weight’ but didn’t experience any real fat loss.
One customer said they had been taking one serving in the morning and that it “worked great” for them. They said they could tell when it was wearing off because their sugar cravings came back in the evening.
Another purchaser said he had been using it for a month and had started to see results, but someone else said that they had to take three or four capsules to feel any effects.
Not really. Shred Sport’s ingredient list is interesting but we feel that it comes up short in several key areas.
Those include the fact that it doesn’t include key fat burning substances such as Green Tea and Cayenne Pepper.
Instant Knockout is our top pick for a fat burner on sale right now and you can read our full review of this product by clicking here.
It’s always important to remember that these kinds of supplements are designed to complement a healthy lifestyle and regular training regime.
They are not going to help you get lean on their own – you’ve got to put in the hard work and make sure that your nutrition is on point.
Having said that, a good fat burning supplement can make all of the difference in helping you to make that ‘final step’ in getting the body you have always wanted.
So, is Shred Sport by MusclePharm a top fat burning supplement? It’s a decent option but it’s definitely not the best we’ve seen.
– Decent ingredient list
– Made by reputable company
– Key ingredients missing
– Mixed customer reviews
– We’re not convinced by some of the ingredients
