There are various different types of blue light blocking glasses out there these days, ranging from ones that are designed to be worn during the day to those which are specifically designed to be worn before bed to help with sleep.

As the name suggests, The TrueDark Twilight Elite glasses are designed to be used at nighttime in the hours before bed.

This TrueDark Twilight Elite review is going to focus on everything you need to know about this specific pair of blue blocker glasses to help you decide whether they are a product worth investing in or not.

So, with the the introductions out of the way, it’s time to start taking a closer look the Twilight Elites to see where they stand!

TrueDark Twilight Elite – The Basics

As we have already mentioned, the TrueDark Twilight Elite glasses feature lenses that are designed to specifically block out certain frequencies of blue light, for use at night time.

In case you weren’t already aware, blue light is what’s known as a ‘circadian signaller’. What that means it that blue light tells your body that it’s daytime and it’s time to be awake.

As you can work out, seeing too much blue light at night can disrupt your body’s natural body clock and affect your sleep.

That’s where products such as the TrueDark Twilight Elite come into play. They can help to reduce to your exposure to blue light through your eyes, and therefore reduce the effect it has on your body.

Taking a look at the product description on the official TrueDark website, the Twilight Elite are “nighttime junk light blockers” designed for use before bed.

They feature a “stylish, streamlined design, lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum frame” and are designed to block out most frequencies of blue light.

What sets the TrueDark Twilight Elite apart from the competition is the fact that they feature patent-pending technology that uses pure solid colored lenses rather than a color tint painted over a clear lens (which is the case with most blue blockers.

This means that the lenses are really of “premium” quality and are designed to be totally scratch resistant.

The Twilight Elites have been designed specifically to block out the “harshest” frequencies of blue, violet and green light emitted by things such fluorescent lights, LEDs, electronics, phones, tablets and computers.

Every pair of TrueDark glasses comes with a microfiber cleaning cloth and carrying case.

So, now that we have covered the basic facts about the TrueDark Twilight Elites, it’s time to start looking at the pair we ordered to try out!

The Styles and Frames

We ordered the black frame Twilight Elites as we wanted to test them out before bed and compare them with our recent reviews of the Ra Optics Ultimate Night and BLUblox Sleep+ glasses.

TrueDark Twilight Elite with Case

The first impressions were very good. The glasses come in a high-quality protective box. Inside you’ll find your glasses, a microfiber cleaning cloth and an awesome triangular protective case.

The frames themselves are clearly of extremely high quality. They are made from aircraft-grade aluminum and have a very sturdy feel to them.

The glasses also feature a nose pad for extra comfort. If you’re not a fan of the nose pad, you can remove it using a small screwdriver.

Simply put, the TrueDark Twilight Elite are the most sturdy and well-designed blue blockers we’ve tested to date. You’ll notice the high quality of this product when unpacking it for the first time.

Style-wise, the Twilight Elites are pretty good. We would prefer to see more choices of frames if we’re being totally honest. This is where brands such as BLUblox and Ra Optics excel.

So, now that we’ve covered the basics about the Twilight Elite frames, it’s time to focus on the lenses and the effect.

The Lenses and the Effect

The directions for use when it comes to the Twilight Elite lenses are pretty straightforward.

They are designed to be worn from between 30 minutes and two hours before you go to sleep.

According to the official website, they block out 98 per cent of blue, green and violet wavelengths of light.

That means that they do let in a small amount of blue, green and violet wavelengths. If you’re looking for a lens that blocks out all blue light, then the TrueDark Twilight Classic may be a better product for you.

We wore the Twilight Elites around two hours before bed. They certainly make everything very red!

They did have the desired effect, as we noticed we were feeling sleepy within about an hour of putting them on.

We did notice, though, that these particular lenses seem to let in slight more blue / bright light than the Ra Optics and BLUblox lenses we’ve reviewed recently. This was only really noticeable when using a device of watching television.

It’s important to note that you should not drive or operate any heavy machinery while wearing these glasses, as they do block out a lot of light and make things look pretty dark.

What Are Customers Saying?

We took a look online to see what real customers were saying about the Twilight Elites.

TrueDark Twilight Elite Close Up

At the time of writing, there were nine ratings on Amazon, where the product had an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars, which is pretty positive.

One person left a five star review and said that they had noticed they were experiencing deeper and longer sleep, which sounds pretty cool.

Someone else simply said that they are “way better than the cheaper alternatives”.

All in all, the customer feedback around TrueDark’s products seem to be pretty positive, which is testament to a quality offering.

Any Negatives?

• They are a premium priced product. This means that they may not fit into everyone’s budget. That being said, it’s worth paying a bit extra for extra quality in our opinion.

• They don’t block out all blue light. Yes, they do block out most of the harmful frequencies, but you may want to go for the Twilight Classics if you’re looking for a heavy-duty nighttime lens.

Anything Else to Consider?

Blue light blocking glasses are an excellent tool for use in the modern world.

They can help to realign your circadian rhythm and promote normal bodily functions by blocking out energetic frequencies of light after dark.

However, good health requires a multi-action approach. You can’t simply buy a pair of blue blocker glasses and expect them to solve all of your problems.

If you are going to use a pair of blue blockers like the Twilight Elites, then it’s worth trying to optimize the other areas of your health as well, including your diet and exercise plan.

That being said, blue blockers can make a huge difference if you use them consistently and combine them with the right healthy lifestyle choices.
