The UFC is set to debut in Baku this Saturday night where there is a lot on the line for both men involved in the main event.
Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr. are coming off of losses ahead of their five-round clash in the light heavyweight division on June 21.
While Rountree Jr. is still a relatively new name at the top of the division, his opponent will be looking to prove that he still deserves to be in the title picture.
‘Sweet Dreams’ has suffered back-to-back losses since returning from the injury that forced him to vacate the light heavyweight title shortly after winning it.
Alex Pereira already weighed in on the main event but it seems like Hill isn’t looking to reflect on the past too much ahead of his return.

Jamahal Hill slams ‘dorky online fan question’ about his previous losses ahead of UFC Baku return
During the media day ahead of UFC Baku, Jamahal Hill was asked a question about his current status in the light heavyweight division.
Having suffered knockout losses to Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka, it would make sense that ‘Sweet Dreams’ has a point to prove on June 21.
Both defeats came to former champions but it still feels like there is more on the line for Hill going into this one given his recent run.
When asked whether his losses will impact him or play a part in his matchup with Khalil Rountree Jr., he shut the question down completely.
Hill didn’t even suggest that he’s going into this fight with the mindset of removing his defeats from the equation, he simply disregarded this narrative entirely.
“How would it do that? Every fight is different. This is a new fight so that’s a weird question. That’s kind of like just a dorky online fan question so I don’t really get how that would affect how I’m fighting a completely different fighter, you know what I mean, so I’m focused on Saturday.”
Jamahal Hill was on a four-fight win streak heading into his UFC 300 clash with Alex Pereira
It seems strange that Jamahal Hill wouldn’t even slightly acknowledge that some things may be different about his approach heading into UFC Baku now that he’s coming off of back-to-back losses for the first time in his career.
He has been stopped by two of the division’s most dangerous strikers, and now faces another fearsome knockout artist in a huge fight for his career.
Before this downturn in form, ‘Sweet Dreams’ showed that he could bounce back in style when he won four in a row following his first loss against Paul Craig.
| Opponent | Event | Result |
| Jimmy Crute | UFC Vegas 44 | Knockout – Round 1 |
| Johnny Walker | UFC Vegas 48 | Knockout – Round 1 |
| Thiago Santos | UFC Vegas 59 | TKO – Round 4 |
| Glover Teixeira | UFC 283 | Unanimous Decision |
A loss to Rountree Jr. would seemingly cause a bit of a shift in the light heavyweight division with Hill quickly falling down the pecking order despite being a former champion.
