Jon Jones and Conor McGregor are two of the biggest stars in UFC history, but according to a former MMA fighter, they’re very different.
‘Bones’ and ‘The Notorious’ are truly gifted athletes, capable of producing sublime performances in high-pressure situations.
However, while they both have successfully carved out tremendous legacies, the American has gone down a different path from the Irishman.
Now, an ex-UFC welterweight has pointed out one area in which the reigning heavyweight champion has the edge.

Matt Brown says Jon Jones is more of a fighter than Conor McGregor
For years, Michael Chandler sat on the sidelines, desperately hoping a clash with Conor McGregor would come to fruition.
Now, some fans are fearful that Tom Aspinall is in the same situation with Jon Jones, as the Englishman has spent almost a year out of action while he waits to fight for the heavyweight belt.
However, Matt Brown believes Jones has a fire for competition racing through his veins, which sets him apart from McGregor, and thus justifies Aspinall’s decision to bide his time.
He told MMA Fighting: “Jon is a fighter. He’s not Conor. Conor is a fighter, too; I’m not putting him down on that. But he’s different.
“Jon is a different beast altogether, he’s a savage human being, he wants to fight people, you can just tell, and I think Conor was there at one point, but it’s pretty clear he’s not been there for a while.
“They are two different situations. The chances of Jon fighting Tom are pretty [good]. There’s no one else for Jon to fight. If he’s going to keep fighting, he fights Tom, period.
“I get Tom waiting. I think if he had other options and wasn’t confident this was going to happen with Jon, he would’ve taken other fights.”
Chael Sonnen says Tom Aspinall is not being updated on Jon Jones negotiations
While Brown believes Aspinall is still in a good position, not everyone agrees.
Chael Sonnen is convinced that the powerhouse is in a very difficult spot.
‘The American Gangster’ can understand why the interim title holder is beginning to grow impatient.
Recently, Sonnen claimed the UFC hasn’t updated Aspinall on their talks with Jones.
