Jon Jones continues to be the biggest talking point in MMA despite the fact that it doesn’t look like he intends to fight.

Fans have been letting their voices be heard by calling for the UFC heavyweight champion to be stripped of his title so that the division can move on.

Interim champion Tom Aspinall has also taken this approach, admitting that he’s ready to move on so that he can try to stay active throughout the remainder of 2025.

While the title unification clash is the fight that most people want to see, the lack of clarification regarding what comes next has been the most frustrating aspect of the ongoing saga.

A UFC legend even claimed that Aspinall has been kept out of the loop in regards to Jones’ current situation, which ‘Bones’ recently elaborated on in a series of social media posts.

Jon Jones claims that he hasn’t trained since November but the UFC have chosen to keep him as champion

While a petition to strip Jon Jones of the title was always going to be a far-fetched idea, it shows that there are a lot of fans who are tired of waiting for the heavyweight champion to return.

‘Bones’ has added fuel to this fire with his comments about living his best life, suggesting that he feels no urgency to come back and defend his title.

Jones supported this stance in a recent social media post where he followed up on his prior comments about already telling the UFC what his plans were.

The consensus greatest of all time has said in the past that he was surprised that the UFC hadn’t communicated this to the fans.

In a series of posts in response to some of the criticism he has been facing, Jones stated that it’s the UFC who have chosen to hold the division up by keeping him as the champion.

He added that he hasn’t properly trained since his last title defense at UFC 309 last November, but he doesn’t ‘pull the strings’ when it comes to the decision of what is next for the heavyweights.

Jon Jones claims Tom Aspinall is ‘not special’ in response to why he isn’t fighting him

Throughout this entire process regarding the UFC’s heavyweight division, Jon Jones has shown very little interest in ever fighting Tom Aspinall.

He continued to downplay the interim champion in several social media responses by comparing fighting Aspinall to his win over Ciryl Gane, highlighting the fact that his heavyweight rival has losses on his record from before he was in the UFC.

Jones went on to say, in response to another fan, that not fighting Aspinall has nothing to do with the fear of losing.

He simply believes that he has done everything that he can do in the sport, stating that the fans aren’t used to seeing someone leave on top.
