An incredible 23-year stretch came to an end during the Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The best two players in the world played out an enthralling Wimbledon final, which was eventually won by Jannik Sinner in four sets.
The Italian proved to be too strong for the Spaniard, who couldn’t get to grips with Sinner’s pace and power.
Sinner and Alcaraz’s final meant that something happened at SW19 that hasn’t been seen since 2002.

Wimbledon 2025 final was first without member of the ‘Big Four’ since 2002
The Alcaraz and Sinner final was the first Wimbledon final to not feature Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Andy Murray since 2002.
Djokovic reached the final in the last six Wimbledon finals before falling to Sinner in this year’s semi-final. The Serbian won four out of six of those finals and captured seven in total.
Federer, meanwhile, captured eight Wimbledon titles and appeared in four other finals at the legendary event.
Nadal made five Wimbledon finals, winning two of the events in 2008 and 2010. That included one of the greatest finals ever in 2008 against Federer.
Murray won two Wimbledon crowns, in 2013 and 2016, and he also made the final in 2012, losing to Federer.
2025 truly capped off a changing of the guard moment as Alcaraz and Sinner confirmed their place on the top of the sport.
Jannik Sinner finally breaks Carlos Alcaraz hoodoo at Wimbledon
Sinner didn’t just put his Roland Garros heartbreak to bed with his win against his fierce rival on Centre Court.
The Italian hadn’t beaten the Spaniard in their last five meetings, including two exits at Roland Garros in 2024 and 2025.
Until the 2025 Wimbledon final, Sinner had not beaten Alcaraz since a straight sets victory in Beijing in 2023.
Sinner finally got the better of the man two years his junior, which will surely be a confidence boost heading into the rest of the year.
