The Gunners manager is set to announce in the coming weeks whether he will extend his stay as boss – which the Arsenal board are reportedly keen on – or if he will end his tenure this summer. It leaves the north Londoners in an awkward position.
Normally, plans for the next season will be in motion already behind the scenes, as clubs seek to get a head-start on their rivals. With Wenger uncertain of being at the helm for the next campaign however, the Gunners may miss out on some of their targets in the transfer market.
If a successor has already been nominated and approached however – or if Wenger has informed the board of his potential staying – then the Arsenal scouts will be just as busy as ever.
Some of the current players in the Gunners roster are at the club because of Wenger, and have stated this in the past to the media, so if the Frenchman does depart from the club, then there could well be departures from the squad.
