Andy Roddick had the chance to see how Carlos Alcaraz operated behind-the-scenes and he was surprised by what he saw.
Alcaraz has broken new ground at the US Open and he’s safely made his way into the third round of the competition.
The Spaniard dropped just four games against Mattia Bellucci in the second round, which saw Alcaraz apologise to the US Open crowd.
Former World No. 1 Roddick revealed what Alcaraz is really like away from the hustle and bustle of the main courts.

Roddick saw Alcaraz interact with staff at the US Open and was surprised to see the Spaniard interact with so many people.
“I will tell you, it’s the little things,” said Roddick on Quick Served after he was up close and personal with the World No. 2 at the US Open.
“He is walking in talking to everyone,” explained Roddick. “Everyone who is running the security gates and walking in. He literally has time for every conversation on the way.”
“It’s not put on,” continued the former World No. 1. “It’s just the way he is. But the game is better [for it]. Every person who comes across him, no matter what their job is, goes I really like that guy.”
Alcaraz has begun the US Open in sensational fashion by reaching the third round without dropping a set.

Alcaraz was in scintillating form at the US Open as he swiftly dispatched Bellucci in just 96 minutes on Arthur Ashe.
The Spaniard is performing at the level on the US stage that saw him lift the trophy for the first time back in 2022.
Alcaraz’s box of shots against the Italian was incredibly impressive, including a beautiful drop shot in the second set.
It saw the World No. 2 break Bellucci yet again as he raced into round three, where he’ll play Luciano Darderi.
