The French Open is taking place at the moment and tennis superstars Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper have had their say as to who will take the victory on the women’s side of the competition.
It’s been a stellar showing so far, but the real question still looms as to who will be claiming the Roland Garros title in 2025.
Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner are all in and among it for the men, but it really is too early to call at this stage.

As for the women, there are several fierce competitors. The likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek. But in the eyes of many – there’s one clear winner.
Carlos Alcaraz backs Aryna Sabalenka to win the French Open 2025
Two of the favourites on the men’s side, Alcaraz and Jack Draper, both agree on the female player they believe will emerge victorious. They think Sabalenka will take the coveted award.
Speaking to the Tennis Channel, Alcaraz stated: “Being honest? It’s Sabalenka. She’s a tiger. I love watching her play. She can do it.”
Draper was inclined to agree with the Spaniard’s statement: “I’d probably say Sabalenka. She’s been winning pretty much most tournaments.
He continued: “The competition’s very strong at the moment. I’ve been watching obviously at the joint events and I think it’s an exciting place for women’s tennis.
“You’ve got [Jasmine] Paolini who won Rome. [Coco] Gauff is playing great. There’s a lot of great competition out there, but I think Sabalenka is probably the favourite right now.”
How did Sabalenka perform in her first game at Roland Garros?
Sabalenka has stormed into the second round of the French Open, clinching a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Kamilla Rakhimova.
It was light work for the 27-year-old, who had the clash done and dusted in exactly an hour. It’s safe to say she was happy with her opening performance.
Sabalenka stated after the victory: “I’m super happy to be back in Paris. The first rounds are always tricky… but I’m super happy to get the win and go through.”
The Belarusian will now face Jil Teichmann in the second round on Wednesday, where she’ll look to continue her dominance en route to the final.
