Fans have had their say about Alexander Zverev suggesting he can challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the top of the ATP Tour.

“[Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner] are the players to beat at the moment,” said the World No. 3 in an interview with Tennis365. “I just hope to spoil their party a little bit and I think I can do that.”

Zverev is widely considered the best player to never win a Grand Slam, but his first round exit at Wimbledon was an awkward moment for the German.

Tennis fans have had their say on Zverev’s comments, revealing whether they believe he has it in him to challenge Sinner and Alcaraz.

Fans are unsure if Alexander Zverev can challenge Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Fans were frank on social media about Zverev’s chance of reaching the heady heights of Alcaraz and Sinner.

“Get past round one and then we will talk,” said one unconvinced fan on X. Another wrote: “He’s been saying so many variations of this for his entire career and we’ve all seen how it shakes out.”

“I don’t get this since he hasn’t improved his game in last few years,” said one fan. “He TALKS a good game but rarely delivers!” another fan declared.

Zverev reached the final of this year’s Australian Open but lost in straight sets to Sinner. The German’s previous final at Roland Garros saw him ousted in five sets by Alcaraz.

The only Grand Slam final Zverev is yet to make is Wimbledon, with the German falling at the fourth round on three different occasions.

Why Alexander Zverev hasn’t won a Grand Slam, according to Roger Federer

20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer perfectly explained why he believes Zverev is yet to win a major tournament.

“To win a Grand Slam, you have to play far more offensively, said Federer in an interview with German outlet Bluewin.

“The title doesn’t just come to you,” added Federer. “When I watch him play, I see someone who plays far too passively, far too defensively in the decisive moments.”

Zverev has made three Grand Slam finals in his career, with his first coming at the 2020 US Open. The World No. 3 lost to Dominic Thiem in five sets.
