Jannik Sinner raced into the fourth round of the Cincinnati Open as the World No. 1 continues his title defence.

The Italian defeated Gabriel Diallo in straight sets to confirm himself in the Round of 16 at the Cincinnati Open.

Sinner had never played Diallo on the ATP Tour, but the World No. 1 quickly came to terms with the Canadian’s tricky game.

With the Italian’s latest win, the star joined elite company only ever set by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray.

Jannik Sinner reaches 23 straight hard court wins at Cincinnati Open

Sinner’s win earned him a 23rd straight victory on hard court at ATP Tour level, which sees the Italian join some incredible company.

Only the big four – Nadal, Federer, Djokovic, and Murray – have achieved the same feat since 2000, which is a true showcase of the elite level Sinner is hitting on the tour.

The star is far and away the World No. 1, having spent over 60 weeks at the summit, and the Italian has won three out of the last four Grand Slams.

The Italian heads into the US Open as the defending champion and certainly one of the favourites to take the title.

Who does Jannik Sinner play next at the Cincinnati Open?

Many expected Sinner to play Tommy Paul in the round of 16, but he was upset by one of the veterans on the tour.

Adrian Mannarino defeated the 13th seed in three sets to set up a tantalising clash with the best player in the world.

Mannarino’s win means he becomes the second-oldest qualifier to reach the Round of 16 at an ATP 1000 event in the tournament’s current format.

Sinner and Mannarino will play on August 13, with the order of play yet to be announced by the tournament.
