Victoria Azarenka has been forced to pull out of the Sony Open Tennis in Miami next week due to a reoccurring foot injury.
The world number four lost her opening Indian Wells match to world No66 Lauren Davis this week after making her return to action following her quarter-final loss to Agnieszka Radwanska at the Australian Open.
It is time for me to think about my recovery and I will work hard for that

And Azarenka, who is a two-time champion in Miami, lifted the lid on her decision to skip next week’s tournament and work on recovering from the niggling injury.
“I am very sad not to be able to compete at this year’s Sony Open Tennis in Miami,” Azarenka said.
“I love playing in the US and my results in the past were also great. But it’s now been over a year that it seems bad luck has been following me. I couldn’t play in Miami last year with a problem in my ankle and now this with my foot. It is time for me to think about my recovery and I will work hard for that.”
She added: “I wish the tournament all the best for this 2014 edition. Miami is an amazing place and a great tournament. I hope to be there next year fully recovered and able to be competing for the title.”
The two-time Grand Slam champion took to her Twitter to announce the news to her loyal followers.
