Carlos Alcaraz debuted a new look ahead of his comprehensive first-round victory at the US Open.
The World No. 2 showed off a buzzcut for his win against Reilly Opelka at the US Open, which Frances Tiafoe described as ‘terrible’.
The new look didn’t affect Alcaraz’s playing ability as he swiftly dispatched the giant American in straight sets.
The new style has divided fans and pundits, and Rory McIlroy shared his thoughts with Alcaraz on the practice courts.

Rory McIlroy told Carlos Alcaraz his new hair looks ‘good’
McIlroy attended day two of the US Open and was spotted in the crowd for Alcaraz’s first round clash with Opelka.
The two men were captured on video chatting on the practice courts, which was swiftly shared to social media.
The golfing legend asked Alcaraz why he changed his hair before complimenting the World No. 2’s brand-new look.
“Yeah, good,” said McIlroy to Alcaraz about his surprising new hair style. “I like it,” he continued. “It’s good.”
McIlroy jetted to Flushing Meadows fresh from the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia.
Who does Carlos Alcaraz play next at the US Open?
Alcaraz could overtake Jannik Sinner as World No. 1 if he does better than the Italian at Flushing Meadows.
The Spaniard plays World No. 63 Mattia Bellucci in the second round of the US Open for the first-time on the ATP Tour.
The two men have only collided once in tennis, meeting at the M15 Manacor Challenger event back in 2020.
The Spaniard won that bout in straight sets, which is likely to be the outcome when they meet at the US Open.
