Sonay Kartal was one of the success stories of Wimbledon 2025, and she was paid handsomely for her exploits.
The British star defeated Jelena Ostapenko, Viktoriya Tomova, and Diane Parry before succumbing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in round four of Wimbledon.
Kartal became the final British woman in the draw and was only outlasted by Cameron Norrie on the men’s side.
The new British No. 1 secured a cool £240,000 for her impressive tournament and she’s already announced the first thing she’s spending the money on.

Much was made of Kartal’s fourteen tattoos during the tournament, with the British star donning the likes of a butterfly and a paw print on her body.
The star was asking fans to help her decide what tattoo she’d get to mark her iconic display at Wimbledon.
Taking to Instagram a day removed from her defeat to Pavlyuchenkova, Kartal has revealed she’s confirmed her next tattoo.
The British star wrote on her Instagram Stories: “Tattoo design has been chosen… Who wants to do the ink?”
Kartal’s new tour ranking is yet to be confirmed, but she will be overtaking British No. 1 Emma Raducanu in the WTA rankings.

Kartal’s Wimbledon dream may have come to an end, but the British star did achieve something she’d always wanted to.
The star played her fourth round match on Centre Court, which she celebrated on her social media account.
“Dream come true to walk out onto this court today,” said Kartal. “Didn’t get the result but what an unbelievable tournament it has been.”
This prompted fellow Brit Katie Boulter to send a short message of encouragement to the rising British star. “Just the beginning,” wrote the former British No. 1.
