Fans can’t wait to see the star-studded US Open Mixed Doubles Championship

The exhibition-inspired tournament should provide some light relief from the exhaustive tour between Wimbledon and the US Open.

Fans are already on board with the brand-new concept. On X, one fan wrote: “That Raducanu and Alcaraz partnership will have people going wild,” while another said: “It’s definitely star-studded!”

One fan thinks the format should be treated like a ‘glorified exhibition’. “Mic the players up,” they said. “Especially during changeovers. Make it fun. Let fans get involved!”

“You cannot deny that this is going to put Mixed Doubles viewing on rocket fuel,” said another excited fan.

The US Open has revealed all the details for the event, which is set to take place between August 19 and 20.

16 teams will compete in the tournament, with eight teams earning direct entry based on their singles ranking.

The other eight teams will receive wild cards, with all 16 teams playing for $1 million if they win the final. The format will be best of three sets, but sets will only consist of four games, so it’ll be a short format.

All matches are set to be played at Flushing Meadows, at the Arthur Ashe Stadium or Louis Armstrong Stadium.
