Emma Raducanu is set for an incredibly tricky third-round clash with Amanda Anisimova at the Canadian Open.
The British No. 1 has continued her fine form following Wimbledon by defeating Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Peyton Stearns at the Canadian Open.
Raducanu has been impressive ahead of the US Open and looks set to gain a seed to the final Grand Slam of the year.
However, a clash with the number five seed at the Canadian Open could prove tricky, particularly after what Raducanu said the last time she played Anisimova.

Why Emma Raducanu finds it ‘difficult’ playing Amanda Anisimova
Raducanu has an excellent record against the 2025 Wimbledon finalist, but she doesn’t enjoy playing the American.
The two stars are friends away from the court and have often hung out away from the sport, which makes their meetings at tournaments even more difficult.
After Raducanu defeated Anisimova at the 2025 Australian Open, the Brit opened up about her difficulties.
“It’s incredibly difficult whenever you play a friend,” Raducanu said during her on court interview after securing her place in the third round of the competition.
The British No. 1 followed it up with: “It adds another dimension to the match, and not necessarily a pleasant one.”
Raducanu and Anisimova have played each other one more time, at the Miami Open, which also went the way of the Brit.
What has Amanda Anisimova said about Emma Raducanu?
Anisimova has always been complimentary about the British No. 1 ahead of their two clashes on the WTA Tour.
“She’s a friend of mine,” said Anisimova ahead of their meeting at the Miami Open.“We’ve both been around the tour. We’re the same age.”
Both women will be hoping to put their personal feelings aside to secure a place in the fourth round in Montreal.
Raducanu and Anisimova are set to play on Friday, August 1, with the order of play yet to be announced by the tournament.
