Alcaraz was born on 5 May 2003 in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain. As of August 2025, the tennis star is 22 years old.

Alcaraz’s father is Carlos Alcaraz González, the man who introduced the Spaniard to the sport at the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia.

Alcaraz’s father was a tennis coach and director at the Murcia tennis club.

Since 2019, Alcaraz has been coached by former professional tennis player, Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Ferrero is a former World No. 1 and won the 2003 Roland Garros. He also reached the semi-finals of the US Open in the same year.

Alcaraz has won five Grand Slams since he emerged onto the tennis scene in 2018, with the Australian Open the only major title the Spaniard is yet to win.

The star’s first victory came at the 2022 US Open, which saw Alcaraz win the Grand Slam as a teenager.

Back-to-back Wimbledons followed as Alcaraz toppled Djokovic in both finals of the legendary grass court tournament.

Alcaraz also won Roland Garros in back-to-back years in 2024 and 2025, which includes his incredible comeback win against Jannik Sinner.

Carlos Alcaraz’s relationship with Rafael Nadal

Alcaraz has an incredibly close relationship with his compatriot, Nadal, who he has teamed with several times in Davis Cup and at the Olympics.

After hearing the news of Nadal’s retirement, the five-time Grand Slam winner revealed it was “Really difficult news for everybody.”

Alcaraz conceded that Nadal was the reason the Spaniard became a tennis player to begin with.

Nadal and Alcaraz reached the quarter-finals of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, losing to Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek of America.

Carlos Alcaraz’s tennis debut at the age of 15

The Spaniard burst onto the tennis scene in April 2019, when a 15-year-old Alcaraz made his debut after being awarded a wild card at the JC Ferrero Challenger in Villena.

In a brilliant moment that foreshadowed the next half a decade, Alcaraz defeated a then-17-year-old Sinner in his first round match.

Sinner at the time had been on a sixteen-match winning streak, as Alcaraz introduced himself to his future rival in style.

Alcaraz’s dominance on the ATP Tour is exhibited by the eye-watering sum the star has made over the past seven years.

The Spaniard has racked up $48,486,628 in prize money for his performances in both singles and doubles events.

In 2025 alone, Alcaraz’s 54 wins and six titles have earned him a whopping $10,631,652.
