Jannik Sinner made light work of Luca Nardi in his opening-round match at Wimbledon, but one thing left a sour taste in his mouth after securing his place at SW19.
The World No. 1 raced to a 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 victory over the 21-year-old to start his Wimbledon campaign in scintillating style.
Sinner impressed on Centre Court as he brushed off the back-to-back disappointment of Roland Garros and Halle.
Despite his imperious victory, Sinner revealed one thing that tainted his victory over the World No. 94.

Jannik Sinner says beating another Italian at Wimbledon was tough
Sinner’s opening-round win at Wimbledon over Luca Nardi saw him dump his compatriot out of the competition.
This is something the Australian Open champion found tough and he was quick to mention it in his post-match interview with the BBC.
“Playing an Italian is, for us, very unfortunate,” revealed Sinner in front of the packed-out Centre Court at Wimbledon.
Nevertheless, Sinner understood the cutthroat nature of the sport. “But one has to go through, so I’m happy it’s me.”
Sinner earned a second-round match against Australian Aleksandar Vukic, which will take place on July 3.
Jannik Sinner highlights key training after shock Halle exit
Sinner suffered a shock loss to Alexander Bublik in the round of 16 at Halle, which prompted the Italian to go back to the drawing board with one aspect of his game.
The star revealed in his post-match interview that he’s been working on his serve after his loss in Germany.
“We worked a lot after Halle today on the serve,” revealed Sinner about the training he’s put in ahead of the Grand Slam.
“I felt like I was serving very well in the beginning,” continued the World No. 1. “I tried to step up and hit through the ball and I’m very happy with how I ended the match.”
Sinner has lost just three matches in 2025, with the two other losses coming at the hands of Carlos Alcaraz.
