John Cena is one of the most successful WWE stars of all time, but he has a horrible record at SummerSlam.

Cena defends his WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes at this year’s event, in a rematch of the WrestleMania 41 main event.

The star is set to retire at the end of 2025, which leads many fans to believe he’ll lose the belt to Rhodes at the event as Cena is expected to move into a feud with Gunther for his upcoming retirement.

Another loss at SummerSlam would only compound Cena’s misery at WWE’s second-biggest show of the year.

John Cena has won one SummerSlam match since 2008

Despite having one of the best win/loss records in the company’s history, Cena has won just five matches at SummerSlam.

Most of those wins came in the early stages of his WWE career, as Cena picked up wins against Booker T, Chris Jericho, and Randy Orton.

The star’s last win at the event came against Baron Corbin in 2017, but huge losses have surrounded that match since 2008.

The 17-time champion has lost to Roman Reigns, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk at the summer showcase.

If Cena loses to Rhodes at this year’s event, he’ll pick up his 11th loss in 16 appearances at the huge WWE show.

Which WWE star has the best record at SummerSlam?

Cena, The Undertaker, and Orton have appeared at the most SummerSlam events, but a surprising star has more wins than those three men.

Adam Copeland, who wrestled as Edge in WWE, has an incredible record of 12 victories in his 14 matches at the event.

The star, who defeated Cena at SummerSlam 2006, has two more victories than The Undertaker at the top of the list.

Edge has picked up wins against Eddie Guerrero, Batista, Chris Jericho, and Matt Hardy at SummerSlam throughout his career.
