CM Punk has revealed a ‘secret rule’ which allows The Rock and Roman Reigns to go unpunished within WWE.
The Best in the World is on the promotional trail for WWE’s new Netflix series, Unreal, which Punk has openly criticised.
Always a frank interview, Punk has once again given away trade secrets about the behind-the-scenes action in WWE.
The star has disclosed one thing Reigns and The Rock are consistently allowed to get away with, which other stars would be punished for.
CM Punk reveals why The Rock and Roman Reigns can always go over time in WWE
Punk opened up about how the wrestlers work around timings on an average episode of Monday Night Raw.
He said he’s always trying to finish his segments early, in order to give up extra time to other stars on the show.
However, he revealed the real reason The Rock and Reigns are often allowed to go way over time during their Bloodline segments.
“It’s one of the secret rules,” said Punk to SPORTBible. “There is a lot of Bloodline segments or stuff with The Rock, when it’s really good and the crowd’s going absolutely banana for it – you can’t really rush through it.”
Punk has had his run-ins with both The Rock and Reigns in WWE, with the Best in the World most recently wrestling The Tribal Chief in the main event of WrestleMania 41.
What does CM Punk really think about Roman Reigns?
Punk and Reigns have a storied history, with Reigns’ debut in the Shield coming alongside the Best in the World back in 2012.
The star often disparaged Reigns in the early days of his WWE career, but he’s changed his tune on The Tribal Chief.
Punk described the OTC as ‘ far and away the best guy they [WWE] have’ in an interview with Wrestling Perspectives back in 2020.
“When you talk about storylines, in-ring work and all that stuff, right now he’s the total package,” continued Punk.
Punk and Reigns have had just one singles match in WWE, coming over a decade ago on Monday Night Raw in 2014.
