CM Punk is set for his first World Heavyweight Championship match for 15 years at SummerSlam as he takes on Gunther at WWE’s second biggest show of the year.
CM Punk won a Gauntlet Match on WWE Raw to set up a first-time-ever bout against Gunther in front of the cameras.
Seth Rollins has already predicted CM Punk vs Gunther, but many WWE fans expect the Best in the World to capture his first championship since returning to the company in 2023.
Punk has sent a message to Gunther that truly shows his intentions ahead of the much-anticipated bout.

Punk has had just one championship match since returning to the company at Survivor Series in 2023, as he’s been preoccupied with intense feuds with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre.
The star did face John Cena for the WWE Championship at Night of Champions, but came up short in their final-ever bout.
That creates added pressure for the rest of the world at SummerSlam against Gunther and Punk has heaped more expectation up himself.

Punk took to social media to share his thoughts about his World Heavyweight Championship bout in New Jersey.
“I need this,” the star wrote on Instagram Stories along with an image of his face-to-face with Gunther on WWE Raw.
Punk and Gunther collide on either August 2 or 3 at WWE’s first-ever two-night SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium.

Punk’s match with The Ring General may be their first bout on WWE’s bigger stages, but they have met at several house shows.
Gunther has won three out of four of their singles bouts at house shows, with Punk’s sole win coming via DQ.
The pair also met at a Nottingham house show ahead of WrestleMania 41 in a tag team match which saw Punk team with Cody Rhodes and Gunther paired with Solo Sikoa.
The Best in the World and the American Nightmare picked up the win, which leaves Punk with a 2-3 record against the Austrian heading into SummerSlam.
