Dominik Mysterio has big momentum behind him since his Intercontinental title win.

He has already defended the belt since winning the strap at WrestleMania against Finn Balor, Bron Breakker, and Penta.

The win against AJ Styles at SummerSlam is up there with the best of his short career in the company so far.

A member of The Judgment Day stable, which Rhea Ripley used to be a part of, he has caused havoc in WWE in every incarnation of the group.

Dominik Mysterio says he is better than Rey Mysterio for one reason

During his run, the feud with his father and WWE legend Rey Mysterio has been one of his most high-profile since joining the company.

The rivalry with his father dates back to when Rey fought for his son’s custody with Eddie Guerrero in an infamous SummerSlam ladder match.

However, even with all his father’s accomplishments, he believes he is better than him, especially for one reason.

Speaking to Busted Open Radio, he said: “Yes, granted I say I’m a 20-year veteran, but I’ve only been doing this for 5 years in ring, and I’m already so much better than he was in every way, shape, and form.

“I have facts to prove it. There’s so much going into it. He’s never been in the title picture when it comes to AAA. Here I am, my first appearance with AAA. I’m going for the Mega Champion.”

‘Dirty Dom’ showed up in the promotion, now affiliated with America’s top company, where he attacked Dragon Lee, whom he beat on a recent Raw episode, and AAA Mega Champion El Hijo del Vikingo.

Rey Mysterio had already won eight titles in his first five years with WWE

While only making his wrestling debut in 2020 against Seth Rollins, the son of the legendary lucha libre star has already won multiple accolades in the company.

A current Intercontinental champion, he has had two reigns with the NXT North American title, and a tag team title run with his dad, which together make up only half the number of title wins his father had in his first five years.

After Mysterio made his debut for WWE in 2002, he won his first tag team titles with Edge, which would be one of four reigns with the belts in that era.

He closed in on the tally when he won three cruiserweight championships in his debut years, but his crowning moment would come in 2006.

Following an impressive Royal Rumble win, Rey won the world heavyweight title in a triple-threat match against Randy Orton and Kurt Angle.

It would be his third reign with one of the top prizes after he lost his WWE championship on the same night he won it against John Cena.
