Former WWE star claims ‘loyalty no longer matters’ and praises Vince McMahon following R-Truth’s release

Several big names have been released by the WWE in 2025 so far, with the roster being cut down significantly.

Of all of the superstars who are no longer with the promotion, the release of R-Truth was the most surprising.

Having re-joined the promotion in 2008, R-Truth was a veteran of the roster with the 53-year-old recently featuring on the May 24 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event where he faced WWE champion John Cena.

The multiple-time 24/7 champion had his last match against JC Mateo on May 30 before his release was announced several days later.

A former WWE star, who parted ways with the company last year, has spoken out about the releases, warning the current roster that they can’t become too settled.

Former WWE star Baron Corbin slams the promotion over the recent release of R-Truth

In a recent appearance on Busted Open, Bishop Dyer (formerly WWE’s Baron Corbin) weighed in with his thoughts on the steady stream of releases that we’ve seen in 2025.

The likes of R-Truth, Carlito, Shayna Baszler, Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman and Paul Ellering have all left the WWE and Dyer believes that this is due to a change in approach.

He left after 12 years with the company last November when his contract expired and wasn’t renewed, having returned to the independent circuit since.

Dyer started his point by talking about the loyalty that Vince McMahon used to have for his stars and that no longer looks to be the case based on R-Truth’s recent departure.

“Say what you want about Vince, Vince cared about his talent and he cared about the fans. Everything else in his life is his business and whatever he’s dealing with.

“Guys like Taker, someone who’s been loyal. When you watch Vince talk about Taker, he starts crying because he loves him and his loyalty. R-Truth has been nothing but loyal, he’s done everything that’s ever been asked. He’s gotten everything to work, even some shit that’s really questionable over the years, he’s made very entertaining.”

Dyer went on to say that as a result of the releases, it should put the rest of the locker room on notice that their position isn’t safe even if they’re well established members of the roster.

“I think if you’re sitting in that locker room, you have to realize, ‘Oh s—, if I’m not on TV for a month, it could be me next.’ I think for the locker room, they’re gonna come to a harsh realization that loyalty no longer matters. I think that it has become what the NFL a little bit is, a paper league, in my opinion, where it’s no longer about the person, it’s about what’s on paper.”

Fans and wrestlers made their feelings heard by coming out in support of R-Truth

Reports following R-Truth’s departure claimed that was a lot of people in the company who were saddened by the news, with many wrestlers posting messages of support.

WrestleVotes went on to report that WWE didn’t want talent to wear his merchandise during the latest episode of Raw, though Rhea Ripley did wear one backstage before she appeared on the show.

There were even chants of ‘we want Truth’ from the crowd at several shows, making his release one of the most talked about departures for some time.

Truth himself, real name Ron Killings, shared several social media posts on X (formerly Twitter) that highlighted this, including the above video.
