Carl Frampton can’t see any way Daniel Dubois doesn’t go ahead of two established British heavyweights if he dethrones Oleksandr Usyk.
Following their controversial first encounter, Dubois has been on an impressive run of form, gaining confidence from three stoppage wins in a row.
But it is yet to rival the incredible run from Usyk at any weight, especially the heavyweight division.

‘Dynamite’, though, has been surrounded by belief from his trainers’ confident predictions to arguably the greatest British heavyweight, Lennox Lewis, predicting a Dubois win.
Carl Frampton believes a Daniel Dubois rematch victory puts him well ahead of Tyson Fury and AJ
Frampton has given his say on where he would rank the 28-year-old among this generation’s heavyweights, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Speaking to Boxing Now, he was under no doubt that he would sit atop that list.
He said: “It would be huge, if you have of this generation, people would say Fury and AJ are the top heavyweights that Britain has had since Lennox.
“A win for Daniel against Usyk, considering Usyk has beaten AJ and Fury twice, would put him above both of them.
“I think it would be monumental, it would be an amazing win for him.”
The Ukrainian truly started his dominance in the division with his unanimous decision win over Joshua.
A closer rematch win had followed, and then two big wins against Fury sealed his fate as one of the best of all time.
However, some of this can be undone with a victory for the IBF champion, but Frampton is not backing the British star.
He continued: “He can do it, he does have a chance, but I’ve quit backing against Usyk.
“I picked Fury to beat him both times, and he just figures them out and finds a way to win.”
Who has the better resume between Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Daniel Dubois?
When looking across their list of respective opponents, it is quite difficult to split the three in terms of names.
By default of being the younger man, Saturday’s headliner is a close third because he only has one signature win against AJ, but it’s not enough when looking through the subpar opposition.
The ‘Gypsy King’ and the Watford fighter are easily comparable, as the big wins of Fury came against two men in reality.
A trilogy with Deontay Wilder and the Wladimir Klitschko decision makes a good case for taking the top spot domestically.
But the range of opponents the former unified champion has is quite impressive, with Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin, Joseph Parker, and Andy Ruiz to name a few.
Although it is the losses in there that mean Fury has to take the top spot, because Joshua has had more devastating defeats.
| Tyson Fury (five best wins) | Anthony Joshua (five best wins) | Daniel Dubois (five best wins) |
| Wladmir Klitschko UD | Wladmir Klitschko TKO 11 | Anthony Joshua KO 5 |
| Deontay Wilder (2) TKO 7 | Andy Ruiz (2) UD | Filip Hrgovic TKO 8 |
| Deontay Wilder (3) KO 11 | Alexander Povetkin TKO 7 | Jarrell Miller TKO 10 |
| Otto Wallin UD | Joseph Parker UD | Kevin Lerena TKO 3 |
| Dillian Whyte TKO 6 | Dominic Brezeale KO 7 | Trevor Bryan KO 4 |
Which does go back to the Irishman’s point, which is that Dubois has to be above them if he wins because he’d be the only man to beat Usyk at all.
If the Morecambe fighter does indeed come out of retirement and the new British heavyweight sensation beats ‘The Cat’ – it could be a super domestic showdown.
