George Groves knows a thing or two about competing in Wembley Stadium.
But similarly to Daniel Dubois, Groves suffered defeat at the hands of his arch-rival Carl Froch, who scored an eighth-round knockout over the ‘Saint’.
Criticisms have been levied at ‘Dynamite’ and company after the pre-fight ‘party’ antics before his Oleksandr Usyk fight were revealed, but many have focused on his in-ring performance, with Froch starkly claiming Dubois quit.

While Daniel’s trainer, Don Charles, hit back at ‘quitting’ claims, there is no denying his performance against the undisputed champion fell flat compared to expectations.
George Groves slams a ‘knackered’ Daniel Dubois for his Oleksandr Usyk performance
Now, the 37-year-old has become involved in the discussions of the fighter’s performance after his unusual fight day preparations.
Speaking to IFL TV, the retired boxer did not hold back on how he felt towards the ‘gathering’ at the ‘DDD’ house.
He said: “He got it terribly wrong if he was having a gathering on the day of the fight, it is nonsense.
“There are special talents who do bizarre things like Floyd Mayweather, who would have a party the day before his fight.”
When he watched the bout at the Stadium, it brought back memories for the British fighter, who made his iconic arrival to the ring on a London bus before defeat to the ‘Cobra’.
Referencing his unique ring entrance, he made a humorous remark about the 27-year-old’s defeat in the ring.
He laughed: “Dubois should have got the bus, he looked knackered.”
However, he remained brutally honest about what happened to the young heavyweight on July 19th.
“He wasn’t there, was he? He didn’t perform; there was nothing about him that was that good. That was a shame because we were supposed to see a better version of Dubois,” Groves said.
Oleksandr Usyk should fight two deserving fighters, not Tyson Fury, says Groves
In other comments, Groves said Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury should fight instead of either man chasing a trilogy with the 38-year-old.
He was especially critical of the Fury trilogy, explaining that people will have to ‘pretend’ they care if it happens in April next year.
When asked who should get the shot, he said: “He beats everyone, on his game, no one is close.
“He’s completed boxing, give someone who deserves it, like Joseph Parker or (Agit) Kabayel, but he beats everyone.”
Agit Kabayel, similar to Joseph Parker, is a name that escapes the top heavyweights because of just how tricky a fight he is.
The German is known for his underdog stoppages against Zhilei Zhang and Arslanbek Makhmudov, where his impressive body punching sunk his much bigger opposition.
An unlikely name to face ‘The Cat’, but he is a boxer who will relish the opportunity to fight for a world title if those belts become vacant in the next year or so.
