Jake Paul successfully returned to the ring this past Saturday night where he secured one of his biggest wins.

While Paul still made a lot of money for beating the former world champion, he has been clear that he has much bigger opponents in mind going forward.

One name that could be next for ‘The Problem Child’, who isn’t an opponent that Paul has spoken about much in the past, is a world champion who shared the card with the controversial star.

Ahead of June 28, WBA President Gilberto Mendoza added some additional stakes to the main event by claiming that Paul would receive a spot in the rankings.

The organization’s latest update followed up on Mendoza’s comments, making Paul eligible for a world title fight in the near future.

Jake Paul enters the WBA rankings at #14 after Julio Cesar Chavez Jr win

On June 30, the WBA updated their divisional rankings, which included Jake Paul receiving a top 15 placement at cruiserweight.

‘The Problem Child’ has debuted in the rankings at the #14-spot, placing him between the 20-0 American Craig Parker and the 12-0 Italian Giovanni Cristian Scuderi.

Though the WBA have not currently named a #1 contender in the division, sitting at the top of the rankings is Gilberto Ramirez.

Ramirez, who is the WBA Super and the WBO champion, was in action on Saturday night where he defended his titles by beating Yuniel Dorticos via a unanimous decision.

In the post-fight press conference, Paul and Ramirez faced off and with how much attention this matchup would draw, it’s not hard to imagine Paul jumping over many of the top cruiserweights to be booked in a world title fight soon.

Who is Gilberto Ramirez, the 47-1 world champion who could face Jake Paul?

Gilberto Ramirez is a 34-year-old Mexican boxer who currently holds two world championships at cruiserweight.

‘Zurdo’ previously held the WBO super middleweight title from 2016-2019 until he decided to move through the weight classes.

In his last three outings, Ramirez defeated Arsen Goulamirian to win the WBA Super cruiserweight title before beating Chris Billam-Smith to claim the WBO belt and defending both titles against Yuniel Dorticos.

With 30 of his 47 wins coming by way of knockout, his one and only defeat came to Dmitry Bivol, who beat him over 12 rounds back in November of 2022.
