Oleksandr Usyk is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in boxing history.

After dominating the cruiserweight division, Usyk then became the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 after defeating Tyson Fury.

Reports have suggested that Fury will face Usyk in a 2026 trilogy fight but first up for the Ukrainian is the small matter of Usyk vs Daniel Dubois on July 19.

Having said that, the 38-year-old knows that his days as a boxer are coming towards the end and he already knows what he wants to do once he hangs the gloves up.

Oleksandr Usyk will turn his focus to football after boxing

As well as boxing, ‘The Cat’ is a huge football fan and once featured for his boyhood club FC Polissya.

He even made an appearance in a friendly as a substitute in 2022 and has vowed to score against Dinamo Kyiv as a professional.

Speaking to the Ring Podcast in 2025, he said: “[I will be a] football player.

“I am a professional player. I have a contract with the Ukrainian team, Polissya.

I supported Dynamo Kyiv for a long time because the first time I went to the professional stadium [with my dad].

‘It is a club with a lot of history but Polissya gave me the opportunity and I signed a contract.

“But in the future, I will score a goal [against Dynamo].”
