Tony Bellew has spoken out against a potential Oleksandr Usyk opponent floated by Turki Alalshikh.

The scouser Bellew backed Usyk to be too smart for Daniel Dubois in their rematch and was proven right by the fifth-round finish.

Now ‘The Cat’ feels he only has one more fight left in him, with a Tyson Fury trilogy on the cards even as fans fumed at his comeback u-turn.

Usyk‘s second win against Dubois has had many heavyweights lining up to get their shot.

Tony Bellew questions Turki Alalshikh wanting Moses Itauma vs Oleksandr Usyk, ‘I don’t get why…’

A name which was surprisingly suggested by Alalshikh was the young prospect Moses Itauma, who will fight Dillian Whyte on August 16th in his first real test.

However, Bellew was not impressed by the idea, speaking to Esports Insider, he said: “I think that’s a terrible fight for Moses Itauma. Well, he’s not been past six rounds or seven rounds.

“I just think to throw a kid that young to the wolves at this stage of his career, I don’t get why anyone would want to do that?”

Even with Adam Smith calling Itauma a future world champion and other boxers on board the prospect’s train, the ‘Bomber’ believes he should take his time.

He also gave his honest opinion on the Saudi Arabian financiers’ involvement in the sport.

“He’s a young man, let him develop the same as every other fighter learning his trade,” he continued.

“This is one man’s opinion. I think Turki Al-Sheikh has been brilliant for boxing, I really do think he’s revitalised the game.

“He’s reinvigorated the game, but one man can never control boxing. That’s not my opinion. That’s a fact.”

Oleksandr Usyk had already won and defended a world title by his 13th fight

Those rushing the 20-year-old are forgetting exactly who they want to match him up with.

The current undisputed heavyweight champion of the world is undefeated and has cleared out two weight classes.

In fight number 13 for the Kent boxer he does face a formidable test in the form of ‘The Bodysnatcher’.

However, in Usyk’s 13th fight, he was defending his WBO cruiserweight title for a third time.

Beating unbeaten champion Krzysztof Glowacki in only his tenth outing is nothing short of remarkable given the context.

Marco Huck was beaten down and stopped in the third successful defence of the Ukrainian’s belt.

It would be a step too far for the young British prospect, but hopefully, talk can die down so fans can just enjoy the journey of the next heavyweight star.
