F1 fans are not happy with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri after what they did following the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

It was yet another one-two finish for McLaren, who once again extended their mammoth lead at the top of the Constructors’ Championship.

The race was not without controversy, as Piastri received a 10-second penalty, which gave Norris his first win at Silverstone, his home Grand Prix.

However, fans noticed something else about what they did after the race was finished, which generated massive criticism.

F1 fans react to Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri not celebrating Nico Hulkenberg’s first podium

A drama-filled race with mixed conditions saw Kick Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg get his long-awaited first podium in Formula One

It’s been a long and tumultuous road for Hulkenberg, who has had countless golden opportunities to stand on the podium but missed out in heartbreaking fashion on a number of occasions.

Many questioned whether he ever would do it, moving into what was considered to be the slowest car on the grid this summer. But he took advantage of the changeable weather to secure third place at Silverstone,

But on the podium, Norris and Piastri didn’t celebrate with Hulkenberg after this milestone achievement. Instead, they went off to celebrate with each other and Head of Aerodynamics Peter Prodromou, sparking criticism online.

One fan said on X, “McLaren is a no fun team with zero personality and an absolute bore to share a podium with. Outside of Lando’s champagne bottle slam, there is nothing. They still do shoeys 3 years after Ricciardo. Poor sportsmanship and poor respect by Piastri and Norris for ignoring Hulkenberg.”

Another agreed, “Piastri and Norris, both quite carried away with themselves, totally ignored Nico Hulkenberg… His first podium after 239 races in 15 years…!! Utterly shameful…”

Fans, who were delighted to see Hulkenberg on the podium in his 239th start, were disappointed not to see the same level of enthusiasm from the McLaren drivers.

One fan said, “Ignoring and ghosting #Hulkenberg completely on stage while he wins his first podium after 239 starts. Ugly. Just ugly”.

Another added, “@McLarenf1 How well did you raise your boys? Totally ignoring Hulkenberg on his podium. The whole world saw this.”

Some of the best F1 drivers on the grid rushed to celebrate Hulkenberg.

Four-time world champion Max Verstappen posted on Instagram to congratulate him, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly and Williams’ Alexander Albon congratulated him on the radio, and teammate Gabriel Bortoleto was waiting for him when he got out of the car.

Unfortunately for fans, the McLaren drivers were not as enthusiastic on the podium.

A fan said, “McLaren not celebrating on the podium with Nico Hulkenberg is a crime,” and another agreed, “It’s a disgrace that you didn’t celebrate for Nico Hulkenberg, this shows who you guys truly are. Shame on the McLaren team.”

Insane Hulkenberg stat shows incredible recent form

Sauber’s resurgence into the midfield has been remarkable. The result in Silverstone means they are now sixth in the Constructors’.

Sauber outscored Red Bull in their last three races following the Austrian Grand Prix, and now in the last four races Hulkenberg has outscored the entire Red Bull team. He’s got 31 points since Spain, and Red Bull has 29.

The best result in his career has left Hulkenberg an incredible ninth in the Drivers’ standings. Meanwhile Red Bull’s issues continue, and the talks of Verstappen leaving Red Bull grow ever louder.
