Martin Brundle has revealed what he thinks the key difference between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris is.
The McLaren drivers are battling for the Drivers’ Championship in by far the fastest car on the F1 grid. Piastri leads Norris after beating him in both the Sprint Race and the Grand Prix at Spa.

Over the course of the season, Piastri has had the edge over Norris. He’s won six of the 13 races so far this season. And Sky Sports analyst Brundle explained what he thinks Piastri has over Norris.
Martin Brundle says Oscar Piastri’s calmness will give him the advantage over Lando Norris at the end of the season
Piastri, who has the mental edge over Norris, according to former world champion Damon Hill, has been the most consistent driver on the grid. He’s established himself as one of the best drivers in F1 in his third season and has missed out on the podium only twice.
Meanwhile, Norris has experienced highs and lows. He crashed into Piastri in Canada, but won in Austria after fending off his teammate, and Norris won his home race at Silverstone.
| Position | Drivers' Championship | Points |
| 1 | Oscar Piastri | 266 |
| 2 | Lando Norris | 250 |
| 3 | Max Verstappen | 185 |
| 4 | George Russell | 157 |
Brundle, who was Michael Schumacher’s teammate at Benetton, said Piastri’s calm consistency will be key to him winning the title.
He said, “There is very little between them, and it ebbs and flows on a weekend. Sometimes Lando, all the tides and moons and stars align, and he’s blisteringly fast and absolutely on it.
“Oscar is so rock solid in his delivery, so consistent, so confident, so calm. And that calm head when the pressure’s really on in the closing stages, I think will be a great asset.”
McLaren eye major milestone at the Hungarian Grand Prix
In the midst of a dominant season, McLaren look set to achieve a major milestone in F1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. They can become the second team to win 200 races in the sport.
McLaren have had some of F1’s greatest ever drivers in their car, who won some of the best races in the sport’s history. They have nine Constructors’ Championships to their name, soon to be ten, barring disaster, and 12 Drivers’ Championships.
Ferrari, the only other team with 200 wins, has been in their own class in the sport’s history, but McLaren will join them. While Ferrari have struggled to recapture their glory days in recent years, their historic rivals are about to go back-to-back in the Constructors’.
The biggest question left in the season: Who will be the first McLaren driver since Lewis Hamilton in 2008 to win the championship?
