Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Wayne Rooney both appeared to be in good spirits as Manchester United completed their final training session ahead of Wednesday night’s Europa League final clash against Ajax.
The Manchester United squad held a minute’s silence before the session to pay tribute to the victims of the attack at the Manchester Arena on Monday night.
The Red Devils have also cancelled their official news conference due to the tragic events at the Ariana Grande concert.
Jose Mourinho and two players had been due to face the media at the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Tuesday evening but have cancelled their duties after submitting an official request to Uefa.
An official Manchester United statement read: “Due to the tragic events in Manchester on Monday night and the effect it has had on everyone here at the club, and within our city, the club has decided to cancel this evening’s pre-match press conference ahead of the Europa League final in Stockholm, Sweden.
“We are sure that, in the circumstances, you will all understand our position on this matter.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and their families at this terribly difficult time.”
Manchester United, nevertheless, completed their training session at the club’s Carrington training base before jetting off to Sweden later on Tuesday.
The Red Devils head into the game knowing that victory against Dutch side Ajax on Wednesday night is their last remaining hope of Champions League qualification for next season.
