Players who finish inside the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings at the BMW Championship will receive huge benefits in 2026.
The second round of the FedEx Cup playoffs is in full swing, and there’s plenty on the line.
Players attempt to impress Ryder Cup captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald ahead of the tournament in September. Meanwhile, the world’s best golfers, such as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, do battle for the title at Caves Valley Golf Club.
There’s another factor at play, as every player in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings at the end of the BMW Championship progresses through to the Tour Championship, where they can become the FedEx Cup champion. A top 30 finish also brings a host of benefits for the players.

Major championship qualification
The top 30 finishers in the FedEx Cup standings are granted automatic qualification to all four major championships: The Masters, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship.
All the players who progress to the Tour Championship know that they will have four opportunities to fight for the most prestigious prizes in golf next season.
Those who don’t automatically qualify, and don’t already have major exemptions from winning previous tournaments, will have to rely on their play throughout the 2026 season to make the majors.
Golf is an unpredictable game, so guaranteeing you will be teeing off at Augusta next year is priceless for these players.
Access to Signature and Invitation-Only Events
The top 30 players also receive entry into limited-field signature events for the 2026 season. Those are some of the highest-paying events in golf, including The Players Championship, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Genesis Invitational, and the Memorial Tournament.
There were eight Signature Events in the 2025 PGA Tour season which each offered a $20 million purse. They are typically limited to around 80 players, and some events have no cut, which guarantees players will see the weekend’s action.
Additionally, signature event winners earn 700 FedExCup points, which is 150 more than they would at a regular tour event. That increases the odds of these players rising through the ranks next season and securing a top 30 place again.
A minimum of $355,000
Players receive a minimum of $355,000 for finishing the Tour Championship. After the final round of the FedEx Cup playoffs, $40 million will be distributed among the players. $10 million goes to the player in first place.
That’s on top of the prize money received at each playoff event, the St. Jude Championship, BMW Championship and the Tour Championship. Justin Rose won at St. Jude and took home $3.6 million.

Along with the 2026 incentives, each of the top 30 can guarantee a healthy paycheck with a successful weekend at the BMW Championship.
