Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz inflicted first Grand Slam loss on each other

Sinner gave Alcaraz his first taste of Grand Slam final defeat, which is incredibly impressive at the sixth time of asking.

The Italian’s victory means he’s returned the favour after Alcaraz gave Sinner his first Grand Slam final defeat.

Alcaraz famously snatched victory from the jaws of defeat at the 2025 Roland Garros, escaping a two-set deficit to win a five-set class.

Sinner didn’t just put those Roland Garros demons to bed, he also got some much-needed revenge on the Spaniard.

Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last seven Grand Slams, with Novak Djokovic’s 2023 US Open win marking the last winner outside of the Spaniard and Italian.

Sinner was suitably delighted to clinch his first-ever Wimbledon title and showcased that with a beaming post-match interview.

“I am living my dream. It’s amazing,” said the Italian to the BBC after clinching his fourth Grand Slam victory.

The World No. 1 continued: “I want to thank my team and everyone who came here for this special day.

“You give me so much emotions on and off the court and we try to keep pushing and become a better tennis player, but mostly a better person.”

Sinner is expected to play the Canadian Open ATP 1000 at the end of July, a tournament he won back in 2023.
