Carlos Alcaraz has been living his childhood dream on tennis’s biggest stages – and he might be about to do it again at Wimbledon 2025.
Alcaraz won the 2025 French Open a few weeks ago, in what was one of the greatest tennis matches ever. Sinner and Alcaraz were so evenly matched, but it was the Spaniard who emerged victorious at Roland Garros.
Alcaraz is an inspiration to so many, and that performance epitomised why. If you looked up the word ‘resilience’ in the dictionary, we wouldn’t be half surprised if you saw an image of the 22-year-old smiling back up at you.

He’s already achieved so much within the sport and will continue to do so in future. That said, Alcaraz may have got to his goals quicker than he anticipated.
Carlos Alcaraz’s dream was to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon
At just 12 years old, Carlos Alcaraz was already well aware of his ambitions within the sport. A video surfaced by ESPN shows him stating his tennis ‘dream’ was to win both Wimbledon and the French Open.
A feat he completed in 2024, incredibly winning both major Grand Slams. Now, he is currently on track to do so once again in 2025, thanks to his victory in France a few weeks ago.
Alcaraz has big plans for Wimbledon, but despite the World No.1 being the clear favourite, it will be no easy task bringing home the bacon for the third year on the bounce.
That said – his record at The Championships certainly bodes well for the Spaniard.
| Year | Seed | Round Reached | Opponent in Final / Key Match | Result |

| 2024 | 3rd | Winner | Def. Novak Djokovic (6–2, 6–2, 7–6) | Second straight title |
Who was Carlos Alcaraz’s tennis idol?
Alongside talking about his plans for the future, a young Alcaraz also spoke about his tennis idol, who he said was Roger Federer.
Federer was an inspiration to many but appeared to have a particular hold on the Spaniard from an early age, a connection that also grew stronger in adulthood.

Alcaraz has said fond things about the Swiss legend on and off the court, stating that while on the clay, he was a competitor, but lovely off it.
“[Roger] Federer and [Rafael] Nadal changed the culture in the locker room, to be honest,” he said. “On court, it’s business: you want to play your best and beat your opponent, but off court, they were kind to everyone, whether you were world No. 2 or No. 100 in doubles.”
Not a bad idol to have growing up, and it’s certainly reflected in Alcaraz’s persona both on and off the court as well.
