Emma Raducanu crashed out of the Washington Open semi-finals with a resounding straight sets defeat to Anna Kalinskaya.

Raducanu was impressive in Washington, notching up comfortable victories against Naomi Osaka and Maria Sakkari.

The British No. 3 also excelled in the doubles, with Raducanu and Elena Rybakina also making it to the semi-finals in Washington.

However, Raducanu’s impressive displays might have come at a cost and fans think it could mean she misses the Canadian Open.

Fans think they spotted an Emma Raducanu injury during Washington loss

Fans believe they spotted some injury issues with Raducanu during her semi-final loss to Kalinskaya in Washington.

“I think Emma’s intensity dropped mid-way in first set,” said one fan on X. “You could see her flexing her back and in some discomfort.”

Another said: “Raducanu clearly had issues with her back during the semi-final against Kalinskaya. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”

“Raducanu’s conditioning and fitness issues haven’t gone away,” said another fan who worried about the star’s status for the Canadian Open.

Raducanu is expected to play World No. 58 Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the first round of the National Bank Open in Montreal.

Emma Raducanu’s projected draw for Canadian Open

While fans fear the British star could pull out of the competition, Raducanu has been given a tricky draw in Montreal.

If the star gets through her first-round clash with Ruse in Canada, she’ll play Peyton Stearns in the second round.

Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova will likely await the winner of that one, with Elise Mertens and Elina Svitolina also in Raducanu’s section of the draw.

Raducanu is desperate to earn as many ranking points as possible ahead of the US Open, in order to gain seeded entry to the New York tournament.
