What Emma Raducanu said after her debut doubles win might worry Carlos Alcaraz ahead of the US Open

Emma Raducanu has embraced life in doubles over the summer, but she’s not entirely comfortable in the format yet.

Raducanu partnered Elena Rybakina at the Washington Open ahead of her all-star team at the upcoming US Open Mixed Doubles Championship.

Alcaraz and Raducanu’s partnership could be in doubt due to their singles exploits during the busy hard court season.

With two impressive partnerships under her belt, it’s easy to forget the British No. 3 only picked up her first doubles win in June. The star’s stark admission after that win could worry Alcaraz ahead of the US Open.

Emma Raducanu was unsure of what to do in doubles debut win

Raducanu teamed with Katie Boulter at Queen’s and the two British stars picked up a 6-4, 6-2 against  Xinyu Jiang and Fang-Hsien Wu in London.

The win marked Raducanu’s first-ever doubles win, which came just before the announcement she would team with Alcaraz at the US Open.

However, Raducanu made a worrying statement after her win with Boulter that should surprise the Spanish World No. 2.

Raducanu, understandably, said she was nervous after her doubles debut – but then revealed she ‘didn’t necessarily know what to do’ during the match.

Boulter and Raducanu lost their second-round match to Erin Routliffe and Lyudmyla Kichenok. The star did not play doubles at Wimbledon, which means she does not have much experience at all before the US Open.

What is Carlos Alcaraz’s doubles record?

Alcaraz has slightly more experience than Raducanu when it comes to doubles, but he’s only played 13 matches in the format.

The World No. 2 played three of those matches at the Paris Olympics alongside Rafael Nadal, with the pair reaching the quarter-finals.

Alcaraz also played matches at the Laver Cup alongside Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev against Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Frances Tiafoe.

The Spaniard has won seven of his 13 doubles matches since making his debut in 2018.
